You would think there is all this money out there for me, but unfortunately, I've found over the last year, that has not been the case. Not sure if the current downturn of the economy has effected this or not, but I'm having a hard time. Many of the grants and scholarships are for undergrads, and for public schools. Stripping as a graduate student? Yes, I am thinking about stripping to pay for my graduate school education. I got accepted for grad school in math, but only as a non-degree student. I have to take a couple of math classes to prove that I can succeed, as I got a few B-s and Cs in the more difficult math classes. My GPA and overall performance is good. I took one class (out of four) they wanted me to already and got a 100% in it. As a non-degree student, that means no support. No student loans and no grants/fellowships as a TA or researcher. I'm sick of working typical student jobs like pizza delivery, waiting tables, working as a package handler, and so on. Either my hours get cut or I don't get hired. Finding a job in an office would be difficult with my class schedule. I view it as simple economics. I'm a lesbian and I have no interest in drugs (brother is an addict) so I don't see myself ending up as an addict or with a loser (not that all men are losers, just have no interest in them period. And I have a LTR). I should clarify, I want the masters to get into a PhD program and be a researcher and/or college professor. Not work in the corporate environment (I've done so and dislike it).
Are there any graduate students who live primarily off of student loans??? I will be starting an MS program in the Fall and I will not have time to work at all! It is too late to apply for scholarships and I have not been offered any grant money. Is it common for students to live solely off of loan money?? I plan to live off loans for the first 2 semesters (fall and spring) until I get accustomed to the course load.

Should graduate students be included in patents based on their research? I was a Ph.D. graduate student in the 80's. I notice that a patent was granted to my graduate school mentor based directly on the work that I did but I am not included as an inventor. Are there sites for grants and scholarships for graduate students? I'll be working on a MS in Clinical Lab Sciences this coming Fall. The estimated costs for both years together would be $70,000. They offered me about 50k in loans, but $70,000 is just too much debt for me (50k is too much debt); however, if that's the best I can do, I'll just have to do that. I'm going to ask financial aid about scholarship/grant applications (they have a few available), but other than FastWeb, is there a site or are there other resources for grad/health professions students that anyone knows of? TIA

International student Loan for graduate school...? I am currently studying in the USA and I am expected to graduate in 2011 as an electrical engineer. Even though i am satisfied with my education, I would like to go to a graduate school to learn more about renewable energy. The problem however, i do not have funds (and I do not want to ask more money to my parents since they paid way a lot of money on my education). I was hoping that i can find a private loan that can help me out. From my many searches online, I found that to get the loan, an international student needs to have a cosigner otherwise you cannot. I was wondering if there is any possibility to have a loan without a cosigner. I have a social security number as well as any other personal identification information in case this can help me out. Also, since i will be a graduate level student, I will likely have some grants/scholarships that can reduce my education cost. Also, I will be hopefully working as a teacher assistant and I hope that I will need a very small loan that i can pay in less than 2 years. Any suggestion? Please send me an email at perspicuous@yahoo.com Hope that this does not sound picky but those of you who are giving contact email addresses with no name, how do you want me to trust you? Sorry guys but I wanted a trusted company with a website where you can find more info
Can you get low-income grants for graduate school, like a Pell Grant, but for graduate students? I am going back to school for job training because I have been unemployed for a while and need job training. I am also really interested in my degree area, in teaching. I know I can get the TEACH grant, which is 4k per year, but I am looking for additional. I know Pell Grants are for undergrads, but it there anything similar for poor people who go back to school for job training at the graduate level? Thanks. I would give you a thumbs up, but I "must be level 2 to rate."
How do you find scholarships and grants for graduate students? I'm attending Purdue's Veterinary School in August and I need some help paying for it. Does anyone have suggestions?
Is it possible that most of my tuition (in optometry school) can be covered by student loans and grants? Is it possible that most of my tuition (in optometry school) can be covered by student loans and grants? Optometry college is after undergrad obviously...so it's graduate school. Shouldn't the government offer better and more loans to future doctors of America? I heard money isn't really a problem in graduate school because the government offers huge loans. I don't mind if it's a huge amount of money since I'll have a pretty decent salary.
Where can I find scholarships/grants for graduate students?...No search engines such as fastweb, please!? I'm trying to find scholarships and grants for graduate school. So far, my web searches only seem to direct me to scholarships dedicated to high school students, or will generate links to different search engines like fastweb. Here's more background info: I'll be starting a graduate program at the Univ. of Central FL this summer, I'm a 24 yr old, african-american female, and I'm interested in taking out loans if need-be. Does anyone know of any companies such as wal-mart or coke, that offers scholarships/grants to grad students????? Thank you in advance, for your help!
Are there any kinds of student loans besides federal loans where I don't have to pay until I graduate? I am worried that I won't be able to pay my full college tuition. My parents make too much money for me to qualify for any grants and I am worried they will not get the parent plus loan. I am 85% sure they will not. Are there any private loans out there where I don't pay until I graduate? I plan on going to medical school so I am not worried about paying them off after I graduate. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Financial Aid for Graduate Studies? I am planning on pursing higher education - Graduate school in Masters in Supply Chain (Business) with a state university. We have $5,301.00 owing a relative and we were wondering how I can get another $5,301. in Student Grants or from some wealthy person :) who would like to help my lovely wife finish her LPN Nursing School ? We are trying real hard to have her graduate from LPN Nursing School without having any debt at all. So far we sold some land that we had, $3,500. Received a PELL Grant from the Federal Govt. $1,500. and also received $2,500 from a Sisterhood Organization out west. We still need another $5,301.00. I have been laid off now for 11 months and the economy in Central Pennsylvania really stinks. I work part-time doing some cleaning, and my wife also works P/T doing CNA Nursing Asst. when she is not doing her clinical rotation / schooling for 5 days each week. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY LEGIMATE ORGANIZATIONS / PERSONS who would be willing to help out ? We want to be able to use our skills after my wife graduates in working with children and those less fortunate in the health care field. Thanks kindly for any serious legimate suggestions / ideas / contact info.
Can any grants help me be a full time student? I am a single mom about to start nursing school and would love to devote as much time and graduate as soon as possible. Does anyone know how and where to apply for a grant for assistance so that I can work part time instead of full time and graduate sooner?
Is there any way to get some help from the gov. in paying off student loans after you graduate from college? I'm 23 and I graduated from college a year ago, but never tried to apply for any grants or scholarships while I was in school. I know that there are huge amounts of money left over every year in unpaid money, that could help lots of students to pay off their loans. I'm wondering if there's any way that I could apply for any of that money. Or is it only possible to do that before you start school or while you're in it? Thx
STUDENT LOANS AND GRANTS FOR 17 YEAR OLD? I graduated high school early. I'm 17. I start college classes on Monday. I'd like to pull out some loans and apply for grants. Where can I do that? Is there a website? Most of the websites I go to get my information but they don't actually do anything about the loans and such. Can anyone help me? Thanks so much!
Why hire graduate students for the research team? I'm working on a grant application for my prof... I'm an undergrad student but I'm on his research team. I can't think clearly right now... too many things to work on, so need some help. Why are graduate students needed to be on the research team - we need to hire some and need funding. Of course they are more skilled in the area of expertise and would be valueable in performing advanced research because the undergraduate team can only do the preliminary research. But what else can I say... I need more words than something simple like that.
Is a stafford loan and a student loan the same? Okay, I have been trying to figure out if I can qualify for a pell grant and One of the qualifications are that you can't be in default with a student loan and you cant own a student grant. I do owe a student loan but I have made my payments on time and its under 1,000 dollars. I have used a pell grant before and graduated and didn't have to pay it back. So do I qulifiy under this??

Am, I still eligible for grants if I am working toward a second BA/BS? Student loans, don't have the money now, can I pay later? I took a year off after I graduated from high school. I have since been laid off from my job and plan on going back to school in the fall, at West Virginia University. Is there any way I can get student loans to cover all expenses until I graduate. Any student loan/financial aid/grant help would be appreciated.
When do student loans begin accumulating interest? I'm going to be starting grad school in the next year and have no experience with the student loans I'll probably end up taking out. I've searched for details via several student loan websites, and perhaps no one mentions it because it's taken for granted that interest accumulates immediately, but are there any loans available that begin accruing their interest after the student graduates school? Or is this "pay six months after you graduate" just a phenomenon with when the required payments begin? If there are loans that do not accrue interest during school, do they have fines for early payment? Thanks for your help answering (probably obvious) questions for a student-loan newbie!
GRAD STUDENTS: Graduate School Grant Proposal essay suggestions? Hey fellow grads out there: I am on one of those sessions again, yes writing the umpteenth grant proposal for this academic year. The one I need to submit soon has a somewhat vague description of its essay requirement: A statement of no more than 1000 words describing your graduate education, with particular reference to the breadth of your experience and interests, and why you think you would profit intellectually from your association with our Institute. Now what exactly do they want me to say regarding my grad experience? Courses? "Breadth of experience"?? In what sense? Do they mean how its helped me for research? Any leads/suggestions??
What are some websites where I can look for scholarships for graduate students? Or Grants I graduated High School and College. Now I am going to get my masters. So there is no High School Guidence Counselor involved.
should I break up with my boyfriend whose a graduate student? Me and my boyfriend have been in a relationship for 10 months. We were both seeing each other a lot while I was a junior and he was a senior. He graduated and now he's in grad school. We spent a lot of time together over the summer. Me and him both attend the same university except he's a grad student now. Although we're still in a relationship, he's been so busy (according to him) doing math homework and being a teaching assistant, that I've gradually spent less time and less time with him this month. He doesn't call me as much anymore and I rarely get to see him on the weekends because he's in the math department. He tells me he's been especially busy this month because he's trying to sign up for a 3 year grant, so he's writing a personal statement and getting recommendation letters. He tells me he'll be less busy in November but right now I'm suffering. Shouldn't he be making some effort to contact me? We used to talk to each other everyday. I thought he was cheating on me but he gives me his password for his email accounts and facebook. So he's either cheating on me, trying to avoid me, or he is busy like he says. I want to know from you guys (especially if you're in grad school which will really help) if I should just break up with him. I'm tired of crying every night becuase of this relationship. What should I do?

I was wondering if there is any info on grants or scholarships that help students pay off their loans. Or any info at all that would help would do. Please don't answer unless you ACTUALLY have an answer for me. Yes I am aware that the amount I owe is extreme, yes I am aware that I should have gone to another school but all in all I did go to the school and I did end up with the loans. I'm not complaining at all about the loans. I'm just wondering if there is anything out there that could help me out a little bit.

Student Loans, grants etc.? Here is my situation: I currently work full time and have been for the past year and a half doing part time schooling. I live in Virginia and i want to go to school full time, do work study if i can, yet quit my full time job. The problem with that is the state only granted me enough credits for 2 classes. I want to take 5, due in part probably to me working full time last year with my fafsa. To support myself, and to have money for books, tuition and living expenses where do i go to get loans that i can pay off when i graduate. Any and extensive details would be great. Thank you i am having trouble where to look. I'm looking for loans, grants, or scholarships for books, tuition, and class expenses for 2-3 additional classes. And i am looking for a loan to be paid when i'm done with college to pay for living expenses, i.e rent, car insurance, car payment, food, gas etc. PLEASE HELP!
Government grants to repay school loans? I've heard of some government grants that a graduate can apply for to help repay student loans accrued over the duration of college. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if this is true and if so where could one find somewhere to apply for a grant like this.
Can I use grants to help pay off my school loans? I graduated from a vocational school a year and a half ago and was wondering if I could pay off my student loans with grants. I am not currently enrolled in school, but am thinking of enrolling in the Fall. I don't think I'll be able to pay my loans off by the time school starts, so I'm hoping I could use grants. If so, what are some good grants that I could apply for? Where should I go to find them? Thank you and have a nice day
Is there any university that offers scholarship grants for foreign students who just graduated from highschool I had spent a lot of time surfing the net for scholarship grants in different universities from different countries but it's really hard to understand the requirements and qualifications. I will be graduating from highschool this 2008 but some sites like the australian gov. and new zealand only offers financial assistance for those who had been accomodated in a university like some sort of graduate program or training stuff. Is there any university that offers scholarship grants for foreign sudents who just graduated from highschool? And if I'm from the Philippines..should i go to the embassy or the department of education? Do they have the capacity to help me?
Will I be able to graduate C-u-m Laude from UC Davis if I'm a transfer student? How will I be able to graduate C-u-m Laude? Is it soley GPA-based? What must the GPA be? I will be transferring to UC Davis next fall from a local community college, and I want to know if I qualify to graduate in two years c-u-m laude--granted my GPA is high enough. Do they count the grades of the classes you only took at UC Davis or from both schools?
What is a good way to pay for graduate school? Hi! I'm an art major who still has a couple of years to go before I reach the graduate level in my studies, but I'm already worried about paying for my schooling. I know federal grants like PELL basically bottom out once you hit your graduate studies and scholarships for master-level students are almost non-existant. I would really like to avoid coming out of college neck deep in debt from studen loans, so I was hopeing I could find some answers here!
How do I get a fund to pursue my doctor degree in USA? I am a graduate student at a university in China. I want to continue my study in USA, for my doctor degree. But I don't have enough money to support myself, so I want ot know whether there are some fund councils supporting me to study. Or there are some universities having more scholarships or fellowerships to grant to international students.
Could and English lit student/graduate/etc. help me work out the implications of this question? 'A work of art may establish meaning as much by departure from generic conventions as by adherence to them.' Discuss in relation to two texts drawn from different modes (poetry, prose, drama) To you, does this suggest: a) Take for granted that there are works which create meaning by adhering to genre, and spend the full essay arguing that works which deviate can create meanin by doing so... OR... b) Spend half of the essay showing that works of literature can create meaning by adhering to genre conventions; spend the next half of the essay showing that works of literature can create meaning by deviating from generic conventions. ? Thank you! P.S. Would you say that 'The Rape of the Lock' is a work which creates meaning by adhering to or deviating from generic conventions? It does of course use many of the stylistic conventions of the epic, but the subject matter deviates enormously from that of more conventional epics. What would you say? Could I argue that The Rape of the Lock deviates from epic conventions in that sense?
Is anybody aware of any student loan or grant programs other than the Federal and Pell ? I qualified for the federal and pell which covered most of my tuition but I am enrolled full time and that being said I can't work and keep up with my classes, so I am looking for a way to scrape by until I graduate . Due to my divorce I have horrible credit so that's a big issue for me as well. Any help or links would be very much appreciated thanks everyone who gives back helpful feedback:)
