I know there are grant sites out there but which ones are recommended? I don't want to pay any money back for my schooling. A loan is only last resort for me.

Can I get funding help / student grants as an adult student? I want to go back to college to train for a diploma in nursery nursing so I can get the highest qualification to work in childcare. It is a full time course - but I would be an adult student as I will be 28.........do the government help with funding at all or grants as how will I pay the bills at the same time.....the course takes up the whole week so no time for a part time job.
Does anyone know of scholarships or grant for students going into nursing? I am currently waiting to get into the LPN program at Owens Community College here in Toledo, Ohio. I was wondering if there are any grants or scholarships for students that are going into the nursing program. I am finishing the classes that i am able to take before getting into the program this Fall. I will be reviewed this August then i'll know when i will have a seat in the program. I would appreciate it if anyone has any information that they can pass my way!! Thanks!!
I want to go back to school for nursing, how do i apply for federal and government grants? I just got done with school and owe a lot of money in student loans. I didn't know about nay scholarships and grants I just thought there was financial aid and loans. Either way I want to further my education and don't want to make the same mistake twice. Where do I go to apply for these other grants and stuff and how likely is it that I will get them?
Colleges charge nursing students more per credit than other cirriculums, is this unconstitutional or illegal? Nursing students must take electives and are charged a higher rate because they are nursing students. I.e. math 3 credit course at at one college charges nursing students $400 per credit ($1200 for the math course) but the criminal justice, news reporter and other majors only pay $165 per credit ( $495). Also most colleges offer a maximum fee per year that excludes nursing students. It just seem that of there is such a shortage, then why should nurses pay more? If your parents earn too much to be eligible for student grants but not enought to afford the nursing courses then those interested in nursing must choose something else. Is there something in the law that requires fair pricing? Courses or products should cost the same for everyone and not single out a group, kind of thing? Why not charge for more specific courses, but general courses cost the same as other students. Other ciriculums so not single out their students to charge per credit based on what the students earing potential may be.
Are there are student grants i would be able to successfully obtain? Hey people, so im 17 years old iv been in tafe for 1 year and have just finished my first semester in uni doing a bachelor of science nursing in general to become a RN Nurse. This whole time i have been working to try get through uni and tafe but it has become too much and i am not able to work. So now i would like to look down the lines of accessing student grants of some sort to help me through. The problem is im not good with this stuff and i have tried looking at web site but i just dont know what to look for... I live In Western Australia and i still live at home with my parents, my dad erns about 900 dollars a week and my mum maybe 200 a week because she also is studying. The house we live in would be worth $500,000+. And dont say get your parents to give you money because they dont :P My birthday is 1993 and i currently dont earn any money at the moment... So from this information is there any way someone could help assist me in finding a solution to my money troubles! I was hoping since im going to be a male nurse the may be a bit more lenient :D
How much bursary do BSc student nurses get? I've applied for BSc adult nursing. Its a 3 yr course and i don't know how much will i get (means tested bursary). Can I also apply for maintenance grant at the same time? Please help me.Any current nursing student?
Can any grants help me be a full time student? I am a single mom about to start nursing school and would love to devote as much time and graduate as soon as possible. Does anyone know how and where to apply for a grant for assistance so that I can work part time instead of full time and graduate sooner?
Do you need a student loan if you're applying for a nursing degree? 'K, I'm finding this process a tad difficult. I've heard that you can get a bursary and all that, and maintenance grants, so I kinda understand that. But do you need a student loan if you're doing nursing studies (in England) or do the NHS pay for it? PS: Can't be bothered asking someone at college, too busy ^_^
Scholarships/Grants/Loans for displaced homemakers/nursing students/VA? Hi I am a displaced homemaker. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psych. A local University has a program beginning in one year that will let me become an RN in one year (plus 7 classes I must take before acceptance.) How can I get funding? How can I get on a track towards helping care for Iraq Veteran's with PTSD? Thanks so much I appreciate your advice, but must point out that a master's in counseling will yield me 30 45K salaries, whereas nursing will start me in the 60s and take me up. Also, I want the meaningful psych nurse work w/the veterans.
Would I Be Entitled To Student Loans At College? Im 23 and looking to start an access course into nursing in September, however i live on my own and was wondering whether i would be able to get student grants/loans to help with the costs, as in doing the course would mean i would have to go part time at work. However if i would not be able to access student grants/loans would there be any other financial help available to me?

I've got these guys I work with who claim all kinds of things and I was just curious what I could do? Financial Aid for Nursing Students? I was just accepted into the University of Southern Mississippi's nursing school. I have family members who are willing to help me out with anything I need, but I would still like to know what is available to me. I always hear about different financial aid opportunities available for nursing students. I've been checking around online, and so far, I'm not finding anything. How do I go about finding grants for nursing students or any other kind of financial aid assistance? Thanks in advance!!!
How would I go about going to college again after I dropped out and owe a student loan? (grants/scholarships?)? When I was 18 I applied for a student loan to go to beauty school and ended up dropping out. I still owe money and am unable to make payments. I now have aspirations to go to nursing school to be a pediatric nurse and I know that getting another student loan is out of the question. I am a single mother in desperate need of a brighter future. I have no idea on how to apply for a grant or a scholarship or even if I qualify, any advice helps. Thanks!
Can Anything Be Done? New Owners Of Nursing School Complicating Things!? I'm a student at a hospital-based nursing school in Missouri. Last January the school was sold & bought, when it came time to renew FASFA forms well, we didn't have a school code. We asked why & they said because of the new ownership they had to reapply & they reassured us it wouldn't be long. So in the mean time they told us to put in a random school code from another school & print out the results & bring it to the financial aid office. We all did that, but by summer semester still no school code which meant no money from government. So they signed all the students up through some loan company which loaned us the money to pay for tuition & they promised by fall semester it would be straightened out. Here it is October & still no word on whats going on. They are also giving us no explanation as to why such the delay. Is there anything us students can do? Many nursing students rely on grants & loans (mine being school loans) to survive, but no $$ is able to come through since they have not yet acquired their school code. Is this bad?? Just FYI, the school has actually been around since the 1800's. It is the oldest nursing school left in MO & has (or had) a GREAT reputation with a waiting list to enter & up until the buy out, they were accredited.
are there student grants out there that people can get without being at "poverty" level or minorities? I was in the military for 4 years so i do have the MGI Bill which is great and i also have a decent job, i dont make a ton of money but i dont make minimum wage either. im enrolled in school now and my MGI Bill pays for my classes, well it will once they start paying me, but i will not b able to go to nursing school and work this job im in because of scheduling issues.. i dont want to put off my future anymore but i cant afford to quit my job and just have the MGI Bill pay for my school. im married and we have bills to pay and i household to maintain. im not looking for tons n tons of money, i just need to find something that will help us with living expenses. Ive looked into grants and scholarships and things but seems like the only time anything is really offered is if u dont work at all and are almost in poverty, if u have a few children or are a minority. Theres got to be something out there for someone like me who is and always has been a productive part of society. HELP HAHA WORK AT MAKING MY HOUSEHOULD A "CHEEP" ONE? THAT MAKES PERFECT SENSE! IVE WORKED SO HARD THE LAST 8 YEARS TO GET WHAT I HAVE.. MOVE IN WITH FAMILY? WOW... IM GOING TO WORK THIS OUT WITH HELP OR NO HELP..WAS JUST ASKING FOR PRODUCTIVE COMMENTS.. SO, AS FOR UR COMMENT.. U SHOULDNT BOTHER OH AND JESSICAN.. THANKS FOR THE INFO
Are there any Grants for College Student to pay for Living cost? are there any grants or long term loans that i can get to help me pay for living costs im going to a two year school first and to become a registered nurse but its so hard to get a job i apply and apply but to many places are not hiring or come back or call back in memphis tn
Financial Aid/Grants/Scholarships/Student Loans? I am looking for money that I preferably would not have to pay back (I'm just starting out...) such as grants and scholarships. I'm am going for a BA of Science in nursing. I highly doubt that I will get enough with just grants and scholarships, so I need to know where I can get a good student loan. Low interest rates and that I will not have to pay back until I finish my schooling (about 2 1/2 years). I am a NJ resident going to school in NY university.
Should nursing schools lower their standards due to the shortage of nurses? I've heard of the bill, Nurse Education Expansion, and Development Act (still underway) that allows "Public Health Service Act to authorize capitation grants to increase the number of nursing faculty and students, and for other purposes." Do you think this bill should be enforced? Should nursing schools lower their standards to beat the shortage of nurses we're experiencing? Or do you think there is an alternative, say, like increasing the salary of nursing professors so we won't be short of them? How do we defeat the nursing shortage?! You think the bill, if it becomes law, will do any good?
Want to go back to do a Nursing degree, Student Finance HELP? UK? I did a HND and then went onto a degree and quit after failing in the 1st year of degree (it was the 2nd year technically though - just had to do the 2nd and 3rd year because I had already done the HND). So I did 3 years (HND = 2, Degree = 1) So I've had 3 years tuition fee and grants. But I absolutely hated this course and thats why I dropped out anyway. I actually want to go back in a few years to do another degree in Nursing, which I've been told is paid by the NHS rather than the Students Loans company. But will I be entitled for tuition or not? Its got me really worried about with the tuition fees going up to 9grand a year I obviously cant afford it. Any advice will be really appreciated, thanks. Luke, if I got the right grades I would've been a doctor and we wouldn't be having this gender inappropriateness hahaha :) Mimkat, You've got the wrong end of the stick. I actually am the first person to stick up for how hard nurses work and how hard there job is. In some specialities I know its even harder than being a doctor. Plus I've known some doctors who are so freakin dumb its unbelievable! I was really refering to the gender politics only and the fact that I only want to help mentally ill people, you can label me as a binman for all I care as long as I end up helping them. Thank you for your answer though :)

R there any scholarship grants for an undergrad. Filipino who is willing to major in any med course in the US? I desperately want to study in the US specifically in the New York-New Jersey Area but I don’t have enough money to do that so what I need is a scholarship grant for a foreign student. I am willing to take any four year course especially medical course and if I am able to pursue a medical course I will most likely choose Nursing, Physical Therapy, or an Occupational Therapy. If someone offers me a four year course scholarship I would gladly accept it even it’s not medical. If anyone can contribute prospective grants please do so and thank you very much.
Undocumented nursing college student - better off to start new in Canada? I have a friend who is a student nurse and is graduating soon. Her family moved to the US to flee the political turmoil in their country. She was 4 years old. They were granted a visa to find a sponsor for their greencard. Unfortunately, both parents did not speak the language well, did not have college education and failed in doing so. Obviously, going back to the wrecked homeland is not an option. She's thinking of moving to Canada and get a working visa there as a nurse if she'll be able to find a sponsor. What are her chances of finding a sponsor in Canada despite her undocumented status in the United States? Please intelligent answers only that actually answers the question. Saved the love/animosity for the undocumented in some other forum.

Can I get student loans (to go to nursing school) when I have extrermely bad credit and only a part time job? Ok here is the deal. I am a 26 year old who has recently decided that I want to go back to school for nursing. I live in Memphis, TN and we have a nursing school that will pay for your student loans but I have to figure out how and if I can even get a student loan. When I was young, dumb, and stupid I made some mistakes and now I have bad credit (really bad). Also I really have no one to co-sign a loan for me and I don't make enough to pay for it on my own. Can I get a student loan? If so how do I go about the process? Do I need to get accepted to the school and then apply for the loans? When is the best time to apply for grants and my FASFA? If I get accepted to the school but am not able to get the loans what do I do then? Please help!!!!
Grants and Loans for older college student? I'm 26 years old and I've finally decided to go back to college. I went right after high school but dropped out. I know it's a little far fetched but I was looking to go OUT OF STATE for my education. I've lived in Tampa, Florida for 26 years and the beachy, tropical, and over crowded lifestyle is all I've ever known. I like it here but I figured I'm still young enough to venture out. Although I'll probably end up at a school here in Tampa. My question is do you guys know of any scholarships or grants that I might be qualified for? Do you know any web-sites with useful information? I'm 26, i have no college credits, no SAT scores, and no foreign language credits. Also I'm caucasian or whatever you want to say...I'm a white dude. No family in the military or anything either, no kids, no wife, no sick siblings or family members. Essentially it's just me broke and going no where. I'm planning on majoring in nursing or something else in the medical field. I know community college is probably where I will be starting off. I'm mostly looking to go to Maine. The University of Maine is the school I want to go to most. I've always wanted to live in Maine. Any information would be helpful. Thanks. Also, if I just pay the out of state fees for one year at Maine and I get my driver license transferred to Maine in that year would I be considered an INSTATE STUDENT. How does that work. The web-sites aren't exactly clear. Again thanks for the help and thank you for reading.
Question for nurses and nursing students.? Please only lend an opinion if you're a nurse or nursing student; they are the only ones with relevant info for this question. Thanks. I earned a BS in marketing a few months back from a Cal State school. The economy is bad and I had to take a job outside of my field of study until the economy recovers so that I can find a marketing job. The job that I found pays pretty well (60K) but there will never be any room to move up. I'm starting to feel like spending my time there is just a band-aid where I waste time, just because I make a salary. I'm now wondering if I should just go back to school to get a bachelors in nursing. Doing this would also help me go volunteer abroad for a year or so like I've been planning to do. I've always been interested in medicine and liked hospitals, and I would like to help people, even if it's not on a grand scale. I realize all of the basic stuff; I should talk to some nurses and see what they say about the profession and even volunteer in a hospital to see if I like the idea. But, my question is this; Do you think that this is a good time to go into nursing? I don't know how the job and pay will change after this new health care legislation. Are you worried? Have you heard much? Was it hard to get through nursing school? I had a hard time in biology, but I think that may have been because I knew it wouldn't help me in marketing. I did take a biology of AIDS class and enjoyed it. Is the curriculum difficult for someone who's pretty bad at math? Will they continue to be in demand considering the massive number of students in school for it right now? Is it reasonable to get a bachelors degree in it, using an accelerated program from a UC school? Would it be reasonable to then begin work and then slowly take classes to become a physician's assistant? Is the pay good in California with just a bachelors? Is it hard to get accepted to these schools for nursing? Is there an exit test after graduation for nurses, sort of like the MCATs, or the bar for attorneys? Are there many ways to help pay for the schooling, aside from FAFSA; grants, special gov assistance for nurses, etc? Is it possible to finish the upper division work in 2 years, and are there many pre reqs? I know that I just asked a ton of questions, but it's really important. If you could answer each one, or as many as you can, that would be extremely appreciated. Thanks.

I have student loan debt, in collection, are there resources to help me pay the loans off grants etc?? I can't use the classes that I took and am very intrested in going to nursing school. I've finally found my calling. I had contacted my loan holder and completed the foreberance paperwork and believed it was taken care of for the time being, but the loan was turned over to collection instead. Due to circumstances out of my control i'll be out of work for a while and unemployment is yet to kick in. Believe me i'd much rather just pay them off. I've already paid off a big bundle.
Can I get a grant to go to college if I have student loans from years ago in default? I am a single mom working my butt off and I quit college when I got divorced 10 yrs ago. I have a BS in Biology and want to pursue nursing. Any programs that may accept transfer credits from BS? I'm married and a parent of a 3 year old, and would like to pursue nursing (even just LVN) but am worried about income replacement while I'm in school. Is there any way any of coursework from my BS in Biology may transfer for part of the nursing program? If not, any programs/grants for parents (nontraditional, or "independent" students) to help with loss of income while going back to school?

Does anyonne know how I can receive another $5,300. in student grants to pay off a personal loan ? We have $5,301.00 owing a relative and we were wondering how I can get another $5,301. in Student Grants or from some wealthy person :) who would like to help my lovely wife finish her LPN Nursing School ? We are trying real hard to have her graduate from LPN Nursing School without having any debt at all. So far we sold some land that we had, $3,500. Received a PELL Grant from the Federal Govt. $1,500. and also received $2,500 from a Sisterhood Organization out west. We still need another $5,301.00. I have been laid off now for 11 months and the economy in Central Pennsylvania really stinks. I work part-time doing some cleaning, and my wife also works P/T doing CNA Nursing Asst. when she is not doing her clinical rotation / schooling for 5 days each week. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY LEGIMATE ORGANIZATIONS / PERSONS who would be willing to help out ? We want to be able to use our skills after my wife graduates in working with children and those less fortunate in the health care field. Thanks kindly for any serious legimate suggestions / ideas / contact info.

I have a partner who is unemployed and lives with me and my 8 year old son, I too am unemployed (this is the first time since i left school i have claimed benefit). I intend to find a pt eve job to help fund but am i entitled to a student grant and is it guarenteed i would get it? would i get any help with housing rent? would i be entitled to tax credit? my job centre was unhelpful sorry for all questions thanks
Why doesn't the government allow students to apply for student loans if they are taking less than 6 credits? My school's office won't grant me more aid, saying I've completed how many credits they'll pay for, but I still have 5 quarters of prerequisites that I have to do 1 class (5 credits) at a time before nursing school. So that leaves me with no financial aid and no student loans. I'm wondering why.
Free Grants/Financial Aide? I am currently a single mom/ nursing student having problems paying my tuition for the spring semester. I am not eligible for Federal financial aide so, I have been looking for some grants or financial aide and every place seems to be a scam. Most websites want you to pay money to find free grants. If anyone knows of a place to find financial assistance please let me know.

Student loans for living expenses? I'm a full time Nursing student living in San Francisco. I work 32 hours a week and am paying for my school and car loan. I need help financially. I'm one of those people stuck in the middle - I'm not poor enough to qualify for school grants yet I'm not rich enough to pay all my bills off without going into overdraft sometimes. I just finished applying for FAFSA, but I would like an additional loan for college students who need $ for living expenses. Basically, I need a student loan that will help me pay for rent. Preferably a loan that will give me more than $7,000 for a year. FAFSA only gives about $5,000 for undergrads, especially freshmen under 24 (me). $5,000 does not get you very far, especially in SF. I tried applying for the collegiate loan at Wells Fargo, but I needed a cosigner and my cosigner was rejected. Does anyone know of any other student loans available? This is a long shot, but does anyone know of other student loans NOT requiring a cosigner? I need one designed for students living off campus. Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you!

How exactly are Republicans for the average joe? "the working stiff and the struggling small businesses" as described by some con? Republicans believe in law of the jungle economics. That means if you were born poor, though luck. No public education, no job training, no state subsidized universities, student grants, subsidized loans, GI Bills, or temporary safety nets to help the average joe work his way up. They got theirs and screw everybody else. Republican special interests: big oil, big pharma, big defense contractors, billionaire capitalists Democrat special interests: policemen, teachers, nurses, firefighters, labor. And how exactly is the small business owner supposed to compete against established giants like Wal-Mart? The small business owner cannot compete against well resourced giants if they are not given some help. Laisez-faire, law of the jungle, survival of the fittest capitalists do not believe in special laws for small business. locutus, Agreed totally. I'm not for eliminating business, just making the point that labor also needs to have its voice heard.
Certified Nursing Assistant Scholarship or Grant? I'm a 17 year old high school student. Over the summer break I want to take a c.n.a. class. I was wondering are there any scholarship or grants I can put towards this class instead of paying full tuition at the community college I intend on going to? I live the the St. Louis, MO metro east area. I am a straight A student and I am involved with various extra-curricular activities and community service projects. Please don't put any negative comments about C.N.A.'s and what they do, I am fully aware of the job description.
Does anyone know of anyway the government helps people pay for college?besides grants& military? For people who aren't fresh out of high school. Or maybe programs for low income students in the nursing field?
Are there programs for new teachers in Texas-as students- to help get them through school- Grants/ contracts? My friend is a nurse and the hospital she works in gave her a salary and helped pay for her education while she was in school with a contract stating she would work for them for the following 5 years and she would graduate with a certain GPA and within a certain timeframe. This set up her life for 2 years of school and 5 years working so she didn't have to work while in school and had real motivation to finish quickly and do well. I am currently going to school for education and was wondering if anyone knows of a similar program for teachers? I'll be in the central Texas area and would love a program like my friend's! Any info helps! Thanks so much!

Does american society offer tuition grants for those who wish to become doctors or nurses to treat the sick? or do most of these students pretty much take on a lot of debt to finish their studies? I was thinking about this and it occurred to me why a society would not want to give every incentive possible to get people educated who want to go into the health field and treat the sick. what does this say about our view of health care if we dont give these incentives?
Nursing school at age 30 (financial aid)? I need some advise on grants/student loans and what I am eligible for. I currently work full-time earning between 35,000-40,000 a year. I am enrolled at my local community college (Northampton Community College) finishing off the necessary courses before I enroll in their nursing program. I have paid out of pocket for my classes thus far. No dependents, but my living situation requires that I earn a steady paycheck. Now this is where things get difficult. The nursing program needs to be completed within a particular time frame and it seems that I would have to quit my job to finish the program, so in my situation what grants or aid are available? Is their a way to have the hospital pay for my college education if I work for them? The local hospitals here are Lehigh Valley Hospital, St. Lukes Hospital, and Easton Hospital all in PA.
I'm 21 and a student who wants to claim myself to be qualified for financial aid. How can I do this??r=1229052? I am going to have to pay my dad back for everything anyway and we are not on good terms. I'm in nursing school and it's hard to work but I'm tired of jumping through hoops I want to support myself. I could prob get grants if I were to claim myself.
