Grants? Scholarships? Rent? Help? Ok so I am 18. I start cosmetology school on Monday. I graduate after a year and it costs 18,000. I am currently using FAFSA which is great and all. I looked all over the internet looking for grants and I can't find any that I can apply for. Does anyone know where I can start? Or where I can find grants to help pay for school? Kinda desperate haha.

How can i go to cosmetology school if I can't afford it? I desperately want to go to cosmetology school. The problem is, I can't find a steady job and i have a student loan in default status. I went to massage therapy school, and I had really bad timing, because after one year of doing really well in business and financially, the economy problems started affecting me. I feel like if i have a cosmetologist's (and sooner of later esthitician's) certificate, I could get a good job. And, I really really want to go to cosmetology school. Really bad. Indiana Scholarships for Cosmetology? I live in Indiana and I am going to be attending The Salon Professional Academy in March. Tuition is $11,990. I filled out the FAFSA and it said I would only receive $5350 for the Federal Pell Grant, which is less than half of the tuition. Can someone please let me know why I will only receive that amount of money? My boyfriend and I live together and we have 1 child but I am not currently employed. Since the boyfriend and I are not married it goes off only my income. I found a Sally Mays scholarship but besides that one does anyone know another way i can get school paid for? Besides student loans? My grandmother said that she knew a lady that went to cosmetology school and she got it completely paid for with money to spare for travels ect. PLEASE HELP!!!!! oh and i am going to this school because it is the best out there. so i do not need any answers saying how it is to expensive and to pick another school. i am not asking which school is the cheapest i am asking for scholarships. thanks ;)
Becoming a Kindergarten teacher any advice? Ten yrs ago I started college to become and Elem teacher. Ive completed 38 hours and am wanting to finish up to become a Kindergarten teacher or any Elem level. Im looking to go back to school after all these years of being a Hair Stylist and Spa Tech and Cosmetology Instructor because I have a little one at home with me now. I want a career that I can be there to raise my child more than her being at daycare while Im at work. At least as a teacher I can be there with her after school and weekends and summer time as a Stylist I have to work long hours. Is anyone out there done the research or have been a teacher to give me advice on scholarships/grants for single moms or school reinbursement? Is there any advice as to the pay scale for teachers and what grades you have taught to recommend? Dear Timmay, As far as 38 credits in ten years is because i didnt finish ten yrs ago! I went a different direction to Cosmetology. My only question was for advice of other educators and the route to take. Besides the passion to teach children and to be able to be close to my children as well was right behind that. Im 30yrs old with my first child and making a career move. Alot of mothers are teachers because they raise children, yes, but because they love children as I do. So, move on to something else besides giving advice with out direction!
Please help! Very important question regarding going to college!? I graduated school in 2009, and attended cosmetology school from Sept 2009-Sept 2010. I'm really wanting to go to college but I owe a great amount of money in loans from cosmetology school, and am just not able to afford college right now. All I'd be able to do it take grants or scholarships, but I don't believe there are any for someone in my position. Is there anything I could possibly do to get me in college without having to pay any money bacK? Also (if this information helps any), I think I would rather take online courses as opposed to traditional college seeing as it's very difficult for me to be able to pay attention in class. I'm more of a visual learner, so sitting there listening to a teacher speak isn't a very good way for me to learn seeing as I drift off a lot. Even in high school, being that way has prevented me from being as "educated" I guess I could say, as I've wanted to be.

student loans and bankruptcy..? I am a single mother had gone through bankruptcy in 2008 and now I'm clear of debt. The problem I'm facing is I'm looking to go to school and receive loans. The school that I'm looking to go to is a not a 2 year school-it is a hair and cosmetology that should run about a year or possibly a little longer. The school gave me a list of places to look up to apply some things-mostly grants and scholarships that have already come and gone. I haven't found too much luck for student loans because the information I was give by the school seemed to be vague and not very direct. I have already gone online, filled out my FAFSA and saw what I was eligible for. The problem is, I'm not sure what loans are available for someone who has gone through bankruptcy. A friend suggested trying to apply for a Stafford Loan and that it shouldn't be too difficult to get some help from them. Any help or advice would be great. Thanks.

Should I major in Mass Communications as a shy person? If so should I go to a university or community college? I'm a relatively shy person and a high school senior. College time is coming up and my major needs to be decided for my application. I Absolutely loveeeeee music and entertainment!. Even though I am shy its my passion, I know all about music, what's going on in the world, and I can't imagine anything else I'd rather do..... besides cosmetology lol. I love hair, makeup, nails, and all of the above. But I want to do something more geared towards college life, and would be stable. If I do embark on this major, should I go to a four year university to get a degree that would help me work in this field, or a jr college to get my associates? What is best? Have any of you worked in this field, any tips?? Is it abslouletly necessary to go to a four year college... I want the college experience but Im not sure if Im getting a scholarship or not, hopefully I can receive a lot of grants and federal help. Or should I enroll in a community college for the same degree but its an associates. Will this career require a four year to be more successful?? Thanks alot!
Should i even bother with homeschooling, or should I just put up with what's left with my Senior year? I'm 18, the second semester of my Senior year started 2 weeks ago. I think I've been a few days....i miss alot of school, mainly due to the dentist. I think the majority of my dental work is done, but I still need a root canal or possible extraction, and 4 or 5 crowns put on. I also have anxiety, depression, and hate getting up early (although the latter is mainly for most of us). Anyway, I see going to school pretty pointless. This is my schedule: no first period (study hall-only cus I don't have transportation and have to be somewhere) college readiness math art -lunch- JROTC library aid (for volunteer hours, trying to finish up scholarship criteria) band american government Basically, I have TWO core classes. I can take government online easily. They don't offer the math I'm taking on virtual school which I was told I have to have in order to be illegible for the state scholarship (I could have taken 1 college semester and not have to take it I think....but I took a full load of college last semester and was too stressed....). There may be some kind of alternative...i don't know. Really, those are the only classes i need-.5 of gov and .5 of math-to graduate. I could graduate early. That would also mean I wouldn't have to walk with my class and pay $60 for a gown and hat I'll wear one time in my life. Going to school is really such a drag for me...I like band and JROTC most of the time (although it's taking some getting used to since I just pierced my lip) and JROTC is pretty cool (but I'm not meant for the army). Also, my friend is crashing with me (she's out of school) so that would mean more party time for the two of us since I wouldn't have to get up at the ungodly hour of 6 AM. I may or may not need the scholarship...we will probably get a pell grant, which I think will cover college (community). Right now, I'm thinking cosmetology because it's something I can get over and done with in a year and start work. I also think I'm developing a huge crush on my friend, which makes me even more confused and emotionally unstable and hard to deal with school. I never said I wanted to drop out, just stay home and finish my classes online. I'd still graduate, maybe even a month or so before my class. And we wouldn't have to waste money on stupid shit like a class gown.
What are the pros and cons of graduating early? It is the second semester of my Senior year-yeah, I don't have far to go exactly but everyday Senior year seems more and more overrated and going to school can be a drag. I have all my credits except for government (which i could easily take online) and 1/2 credit of my math. Only thing they don't offer the math I'm taking online and apparently I have to take it in order to receive my state scholarship. >.> I plan on getting a pell grant which may pay for college on its own, IDK. It's still good to have a scholarship though. I was thinking about cosmetology too, which would only take one year. At the meantime I could (try harder) to look for a job. I may even get my permit today. I turn 18 Monday, so whenever I'm ready I could have my license. pretty much the only thing I like in school is band. I'm actually missing honor band today and feel bad for it, but my dad was being grumpy and complaining about how they expect so much money ($5 for lunch, money for Texas Roadhouse) and how that they are 'kidnapping' us by taking us from school and to the concert, but not home (because they expect that the parents will attend). If I graduate early though I won't have to pay $60 to wear a stupid gown for 2 hours in order to walk across the stage. I may even be able to get a full time job at the animal shelter, assuming I get my license soon. Jemy; How about you go FUCK yourslef, or actually answer the question? Oh wait, your a bot, nvm. . Scholarships?!?!?!?!?!?!? Well I'm 16 and turning 17 this August. After this year in high school, I will only need 8 more credits to graduate from my high school, but the state only requires 20, so I am planning on going to a community college and finish my high school credits there so I won't have to waste another year in high school. I am really ready to start my life, even though I am young. But I am very excited...My question is though after I graduate in the summer how do I go about finding scholarships...do they only grant them to people who graduated from an actual high school or does it matter? I am going into Cosmetology if that helps. I don't have much money and I have to do everything on my own because it's just me and my mom and were broke. But I am worried that if I graduate at the community college, that I plan to start my college education they will not give me grants or scholarships....Any advice? Please help! My high school won't give me any help or advice.
Know of any Grants or Scholarship programs? Starting Cosmetology school in July and trying to get a bit more assistance in paying for it other than student loans. Trying to stay away from those as much as possible! I am a wife and mother of three! Help anyone!!!! Please! Thanks!
Cosmetology School Financial Aid and help? Hey all, My sister, who I love so much, is in a job slump. I am trying everything I can to help her out and see there are opportunities out there and that her background wll not hold her back. One thing she is really really interested in is Cosmetology, and honestly she is really good at what she does. She does all her friends hair/nails and just is good at making people look beautiful. She works a low paying job though and just has no help on getting the money for one of these schools. Are there any cheap online schools that are well accredited, or possibly ways to go about getting a scholarship or grant (showing some of her work?) Any personal stories will help! Thanks
