Scholarships/Grants for Military Spouses? Im a marine wife. I attended college for 2 years at a local community college before I was married. The last year I failed 2 of my classes due to some financial problems where someone had stolen my bank card and stole all my money. I didnt have money to even go back and forth to college since it was a half our drive everyday just 1 way. I tried to take classes again the following semester & still had trouble keeping up with bills so I dropped my classes. Since it was too late in the semester, is was a fail instead of a withdrawal from the class. I lost my financial aid for college. I tried to apply for a appeal but it got denied. I am going to start college again when we get to my husbans pds this fall. I am financially stable now & ready to go back to college. I was wondering since my financial aid was taken away, can I still apply or receive the scolarships/grants they offer military spouse? Also, can anybody tell me a website with the list of scholarships/grants for military spouses I dont mooch off the military. I have money put away for college cuz I have been saving. But I am looking out for our life as a married couple and saving as much money as we possibly can. And second of all, I've wanted to join the marines. I have even talked to a recruiter and had taken the asvab and did extremely well on it. I had talked to my hubby and he doesn't want me to join. Whether some people like to believe it or not. It is very tough being a military wife. Maybe not as hard as it is physically for the service memebers, but emotionally for us. And, I was in the picture before the military was. I didn't just marry him for the money or benefits. He did this for us to make a life for him self and to support a family which we are planning on having very soon. I need HELP, scholarships??? Grants anything!? I'm 17, graduating this year, the school of my dreams, the tuition is $35,000 a year! I need help with locating scholarships. I need scholarships to help pay the tuition my family doesn't make that much money, so without scholarships I won't be able to go. I've looked everywhere and sadly a lot of the scholarships require you to be either super smart or volunteer 24/7. I'm average, I get average grades C+ mostly B's and a few A's and I haven't found the time to volunteer. The school I'm looking into is an art school, I want to be a 2D animator, more then anything! it's my dream! So if you can help me out a little by giving me lists of scholarships or contests that would be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind I'm from canada the school I want to go to is in california. if you can list some sites that have scholarship lists that would be great to or just any advice would help thanks!

Are there scholarships for married couples with children? I am in college right now, my husband will be starting in September, and our daughter will be born in a couple of weeks. I have scanned a bunch of websites that list scholarships but they all seem so unlikely for either of us to be rewarded. We got the Pell grants from our FAFSAs, but we still have so many expenses. Does anyone know of any scholarships or grants in particular that we might qualify for and actually be able to get? We are not interested in student loans! Thanks.

scholarships? Hi everyone! I have been to the usual scholarship sites where u sign up and they give u a list of essay type scholarships that r handed out to only a few ppl. this is fine and all but I'm looking for more garuenteed money for college,I'm applying to a private womens college so that is quite expensive so I need to find scholarships or even grants that will give me money w/ a better chance of actually receiving something! Where are these types of grants/scholarships? any help is welcome! (no loans plz!)
Should my direct loans be included under grants and scholarships on my 1098-T form? I am a full time student with grants and direct loans. On the 1098-T form filed by my school, the total of my grants and loans together is listed under the box for grants and scholarships. I only received 2450 in grants/scholarships, but my 1098-T states that I received over 6,000(which is the total of grants and direct loans together) Is this correct? If my 1098-T is incorrect, do I have to have it fixed before I can file, or can I simply file using the correct amounts instead of those listed on the form? Please advise.
I need grants for college, where should I start? I also need to know these questions: Where are a good list of scholarships that I could get and qualify for? Do I have to be signed up for college before I apply for any grants or scholarships?
Tax for non-service scholarship or fellowship? I am a foreign student and receive financial aid from a US college. Since there is not tax treaty exempt between US and my country, my financial aid/scholarship is taxed every year i receive the aid. I am attaching a Grant Statement to my tax return. On my 1042-S form column 2, it shows gross income of 14456. So the tax software I used determines this amount as the "total non-service scholarship and fellowship grants during 2008". At the bottom of the grant statement, it also asks me "From the taxable portion of my non-service scholarship or fellowship grants listed above, I used the following amounts to purchase non-taxable/deductible items". Then it asks me to put down an amount paid for tuition and books/supplies required for my studies. I am not sure what amount should I put in? should I put in more or less? why does it matter? sorry for the long question, but i really need help on this. Thanks.
Where can i find listings of scholarship opportunities? I'm a female fresh out of high school with some college already completed...and im planning on earning a 4 year degree, does anyone know of a great website with a long listing of scholarship opportunities/grants etc? i just need a link thanks!

What is a good tax filing companie or preparer? I heard from relatives that HR Block ripped them off? Yeah 3 of my relatives told me that HR Block had short them a few hundred bucks, after another preparer did thier papers again and found out they should have recieved more, but HR Block said, "no well we sent your tax return already" i dont know if this is entierly true but I have been warned not to go to HR Block, and I dont know anything about tax filing, the only reason i wanted to go to a professional is because I am in college, i have a newborn, and well i dont know how to file my that form that colleges give you that list your scholarship and grants that may be tax deductible. Please tell me whats a good service that is not expensive. so do you think if i got the turbo tax basic edition online it would be okay, i mean its only 14.95 http://turbotax.intuit.com/microsite/chooser.jhtml?priorityCode=3468340484 would this help me very much or would it be best to just let me mother do my return? ahh that free filing sounds interesting, i wonder if they file here at my campus aswell.
grants, scholarships and general college questions? I am a senior in high school and am graduating this semester. I took my SAT and will receive my scores in about a week. I plan on attending the University of West Georgia. I need to know: 1) Do I need to wait until I get my SAT scores to apply for colleges, grants and scholarships? Or can I start doing that now? 2) My GPA is below 3.0 right now. By the end of this semester it should be above that. BUT I will have to apply for college in November and my grades for the current semester won't show up on my transcripts. Does this mean all the colleges I apply to will not even see my current semester and not include the grades I have now? 3) I am going to apply for the Pell Grant and need to know what exactly does that cover? I know it depends on my parents income, but will it cover my living expenses if I choose to live on campus? if so, is that all it will cover? 4) I currently attend Faith Academy high school. One of the teachers advised me to have scores of my SAT sent to them via the college board website. Faith Academy did not show up on the list of places I could have my scores sent to. does this mean I should/will have to have my scores and transcript sent separately? As in, I will have to send colleges my SAT scores through college board and my transcripts through my high school. answers and helpful information I should know would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Zach
Graduate Scholarships/Financial Aid for Women? I am going to be attending Barry University in the fall as a first year graduate student in the Masters of Social Work program. I don't have a lot of money, and I already have $40,000 worth of student loans from undergrad. I have a BS in Accounting but I want a career that actually works with people - one where I can help others who are going through emotionally trying times. Are there scholarships or grants out there that might not be well known that would offer sizable financial support towards graduate studies? I've looked at websites that list scholarships based on a profile that I build...but sometimes there are private scholarships that aren't listed on websites like that...does anyone know where I might find something like that? Thanks!
Where can I find legit scholarships and/or grants? I am 20 years old and now in my second academic year at Kaplan University. I had to go through a verification process over the course of my first academic year and after that was completed I found out I am no longer eligible for the Pell Grant that I thought I had. So now I have an outstanding expense from my first academic year and I will have an outstanding expense from this coming academic year (which will be my second) and they will need to made with student payments...meaning that money is coming from my own pocket. I don't have the money at this point in my life to make payments on my outstanding expenses so I have been looking for other grants or scholarships I can get. I already have a scholarship from my school for having a 4.0 GPA. I'm not sure if that will help me at when looking for scholarships or grants, but I do have a GPA and have been on the President's List and/or Dean's List every term since I started college. I go online on a daily basis to look for scholarships and/or grants but I keep getting to bogus, no good sites that make you enter a drawing to win a scholarship or some other crap. If anyone can help me and give me some websites or numbers that I can visit/call to find out information on how to get scholarships/grants or a place to apply for them that would be extremely helpful. If I can't get more loans then the 2 I have or some scholarships then I can get dropped from my classes...which is the LAST thing I want. So please people..help me!
College Scholarships and Grants? Hello everyone! I don't know if this has been asked before; I see a lot of links to places to look for grants and scholarships in the answers to other people's questions. But before I go through all that I was wondering if you could answer a starter question for me. Is it possible to get enough from scholarships and grants to pay for a school like Cornell or Carnegie Mellon? (Those two are at the top of my list). I wouldn't be able to bring much money of my own to the table in this, only what I'm spending at the much cheaper state college I'm in right now, and that mostly in loans. I'd rather not be in debt for the rest of my life and still be able to go to a good school in my chosen field. I don't know if GPA matters but I am around the 3.7 mark right now. I am an applied math major and it was the silly American History grade that brought it down. :D In my concentration I have so far received the highest grades (A/GPA of 4). So basically I am a woman from a low-income situation who wants to study math (particularly applied math). Can I get enough scholarships (without SATs, I never took them) to pay for my last two years of school if I transfer to an expensive school? I guess I'm babbling. Thanks a bunch for your opinions!
Bursaries, Scholarships and Grants...? Know of any good sites that offer extensive lists of financial aid awards for post-secondary students? ***Specifically for the creative arts (design) category? (I'll take any info though, I can search the sites on my own if you don't know of any program specific sites) oh yeah sorry....Canadian
help with scholarships, grants...anything!!? I am currently being forced to take a year off from school because of financial difficulties. My mother is still trying to pay off my tuition for the Spring 2011 semester and I cannot go back to school until that is paid off. That isn't expected to be paid off until the middle of the Spring 2012 semester. I have been looking for jobs to try to help her out and to try to save for when I do go back to school, but nobody seems to want to hire me. I am a sophomore at a Catholic college in PA and being a sophomore is making the scholarship search that much more difficult because most of the scholarships I'm finding are for seniors in high school going into their freshman year of college. I have applied for loans and have been denied every single time. My dad would be the perfect person to cosign for a loan but he refuses to do so. Everybody I've asked to cosign has tried but their credit scores were too low. Whenever I find a scholarship, I read through the qualifications and eligibility requirements (obviously) to make sure that I qualify. When it seems like I may qualify, I always read that I either have to be a part time or full time student to be eligible for the scholarship. Obviously, I am neither of those. I finished out my freshman year with a 3.3 GPA and I made the Dean's list for the Spring 2011 semester with a 3.5 GPA, but none of that matters if I'm not a part time or full time student. I am an intelligent, 19 year old, African American, first generation, female college student trying to do something with my life and make something of myself. I have never experienced any feeling worse than wanting so badly to go to school and not being able to simply because I can't afford it. I feel like I have tapped out all of my resources. If anybody can please point me in a direction where I could possibly get some help, I would appreciate you FOREVER.
Help Non-Dependent with College Tax Return? I am not a dependent I have a son~ I received my w-2s and stuff and I am far along on my TaxAct Free Edition but very stuck on my education part. Okay well Ireceived only 1 1098-T from one college I attended and the primary college I attended told me I wont be receiveing one because I had too much in Scholarships/Grants, thats strange. Well I can look online to see exactly what I received as a grant or scholarship so thats good news for this school but I have no idea if I am doing it correctly. My tuition costs for 2007 totaled to: $6763 My primary school is the only school I received scholarships/grants for as listed: From 2007, I received $4000 in Scholarships, not grants. The grants I received were all Federal. Of the $4000 I used about $900 for books in Year 2007. So the difference is $3100 which did not have educational expenses. So how do I figure what is taxable and what do I do next?

Could i go to Georgia Tech just off of scholarships, grants, and financial aid? I want to go to college really bad and i dont think i'll have any issues with getting in but actually affording it idk because getting full scholarships usually only happens to people in sports, music, or people who are in poor situations. Plus my parents arent giving me a cent. So i dont know what y'all would need to know to give information so i'm just going to list stuff. My GPA is 3.7-3.9 unweighted (i've taken every ap and honors class possible) I am trying to do volunteer work at a local hospital over the summer I was elected Georgia State German Convention Vice President and (President the next year hopefully) I am going to be my school's German Club president next year and the next I've done Computer Club, Chess Club, and Math Team also I will attend a college in-state (Georgia) I will need to stay in dorms I know there are 4 million scholarships but i also know like 3 million of them only give like $100 so i dont see me being able to apply for like 2000 scholarships. Also the colleges i am looking into are Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, and Kennesaw State University.
What do you think of the University of Maine? Are there any guidelines for grants or scholarships? I have a kid who has U-Maine at the very top of the list right now. As far as I can tell, it's based on wanting to live in Maine and loving winter...before we take a long, long road trip, it would be great to hear from anyone with up-close and personal knowledge of the school. Do you like it? Good education? Good job placement? Safe? Scholarships - particularly to help offset the out-of-state premium? My kid has about a 3.6-3.7 GPA and 1250 SATs, with good activites and recommendations (interested in nursing).

student loans and bankruptcy..? I am a single mother had gone through bankruptcy in 2008 and now I'm clear of debt. The problem I'm facing is I'm looking to go to school and receive loans. The school that I'm looking to go to is a not a 2 year school-it is a hair and cosmetology that should run about a year or possibly a little longer. The school gave me a list of places to look up to apply some things-mostly grants and scholarships that have already come and gone. I haven't found too much luck for student loans because the information I was give by the school seemed to be vague and not very direct. I have already gone online, filled out my FAFSA and saw what I was eligible for. The problem is, I'm not sure what loans are available for someone who has gone through bankruptcy. A friend suggested trying to apply for a Stafford Loan and that it shouldn't be too difficult to get some help from them. Any help or advice would be great. Thanks.

My girlfriend is in college and she is nineteen years of age and her mother wants to pull her out of school. she is on fafsa and she has two loans and a scholarship with a couple of grants. she is listed as a dependent on her parents tax info i really want to know can her mom actually take her out of school. i mean she is of age can they actually do it.
Where can I find out about scholarships/grants for to my senior high school exchange student? She is from Pakistan, and wants to go to college here in the US. All the internet sites I know just list hundreds of potential grants/scholarships, but then she doesn't qualify because her parents don't work for Edison or Frito Lay, or something like that. Is there a source that has money available to exchange students? She is a straight A student. The high school guidance office has no clue. Thanks.
Undergraduate scholarships and grants? Can anybody give me lists of specific undergrad scholarships and grants that DON'T REQUIRE A GPA? I already know the sites like fastweb and stuff. But are there any specific ones?
Where can I find grants for high school students looking to travel? I'm a junior in high school. I've received a scholarship to do language training in Japan, but it didn't cover all of the costs so i need to raise $1,5000. I wanted to know of any grants or websites listing grants that i could apply for. Please and thank you for your help.
How do I go about finding and applying to grants/scholarships/student loans? I honestly have no idea where to start...Obviously I'm applying to FAFSA for federal grants, but I was wondering if there were other organizations that allow you to apply for multiple grants at once? I was also wondering if there are any legit websites with a list of scholarships I could apply to. I'm applying to UC Santa Barbara and I was also wondering if anyone knows how much money is available for a student loan, or if there is a limit to how much you can borrow. Thank you!

I live in Florida. I need college money. Any ideas for scholarships or grants? I live in Highlands County Florida. FASFA threw me out in the rain, and our guidance office isn't really supplying too many options. I can't apply for the Florida Resident Aid Grant, because University of Florida isn't on their list of accepted schools. I don't have any disabilities. I'm male, white. Not of any kind of descent. No veterans in the family. No one's on disability. My parents are married. And my sister is attending University of Florida as well. I'm starting this Summer/Fall. So with two of us in college, it's gonna be really tight. And my little sister is just 2 years behind me. I'm going to be a Biology Major, and hopefully be a doctor. I have a 4.7 GPA, a 1280 SAT. I have 69 of the 75 community service hours for Bright Futures. I'm going for 100% one.
How many different kinds of grants are there and where can I find them? I heard there are hundreds of different grants you can apply for out there when it comes to school. I.E Orville Reddenbacker makes you write an essay of why you love popcorn and they give you a thousand dollar scholarship, scholarships for people with red hair, etc. Where can I find all of those, is there a list online or a book? I really want to go to school so Im looking for all the help I can get.
I'm looking for a list of companies that provide grants for college clubs.? I'm looking for companies who are willing to sponsor a club in California. It's a college club that provides scholarships to students who are transferring to a 4 year university. Due to state budget cuts we no longer get money from the college and we need funding. So I guess the question is do you know any companies that could use some good PR and would like to donate some money?
HOW DO I FIND MONEY FOR COLLEGE? I need help finding money for college. I'm 26 and I have about 33 credit hours under my belt. I have filed fafsa and do on a regular basis. I have one school loan paid off, and I just got approved for another one with salliemae. I want to stay away from loans. I have an account with fastweb and have searched for scholarships, but I dont fit into their standards. I'm not black, blind, or a daughter of a railroad worker. It seems like I have to be some sort of minority to get help. I'm not rich, and I do work a full time job, trying to work two at the moment, a second part time job, and still go to school. I don't want vague answers like go here, and look through this scholarship listing. I'd like specific names of scholarships, and or grants to apply for. I'm your typical , broke american caucasian female struggling to get by. I just dont get it. I swear I feel like a minority at my school, I'm one of the few caucasian students in my class. Need help please. I just also would like to clarify i'm not lazy. I have scoured the web for grants, scholarships through websites like fastweb, and here on yahoo answers for hours trying to take any good advice from other people asking college finance related questions thanks, im not trying to be a bigot, but I really do feel like because I am white, there is no available specialized help beyond the fafsa and it really is frustrating. So I apologize if it offends anybody but its frustrating.
How do I prove I'm black to get a grant/scholarship? My Mom is white and my Father is black. He is not on the birth certificate, was NOT a part of my life and I was listed as white. He is now deceased. How do I prove I am eligible for the grants when I am clearly black, but birth cert list me as white?

Im trying to go to college and my family is not well off and I need help with this situation does anyone knows good grants, scholarships, jobs, or third party payer bc i have no clue please help me i got 2 months until college start and I needat list 60% of my tuition.
Scholarship help? Please? Does anyone know some good scholarship websites? (I already know about Fastweb. Are there anymore?) And if I get multiple scholarships that more than cover my college tuition, can I keep the leftover money? Or do they take it back? And where can I locate lists of grants I can apply for? (Besides FAFSA)
Can you apply for a scholarship listed at another school? I'm looking through this book about scholarships/grants/fellowships & I'm looking for ones that would apply to me, well under non-need there are categories & listed are schools, can I apply to them although I go to another school?
Where can I get a list of all scholarships? I am looking for mainly a list that works for Juniors in High School. It also needs to be an updated one. I live in Cook County, IL, USA, so any local scholarships will be fine, too. Grants are o.k., too.
Is there such thing as a full academic scholarship to a 4 year college? I know there are little grant scholarships worth anywhere from $500 to a few thousand dollars. However, I would like to know if colleges give out a full scholarship for academics as they would for athletics. If only some colleges do, could you please list these schools for me. Thanks.
Any good undergraduate merit and need-based scholarships? The internet is driving me nuts. I am sorting through all of this stuff and I'm not finding any really good ones, so if you can give me a small list for this semester, ten to best. Theyy don't have to be large amounts, I just prefer private grants and scholarships. they are more competitive and less hassle than with the national volume. Best if you've applied or know someone else who has. Here are my stats: Howard University undergrad transfer. At my old school I had a 3.7 cumulative. 3.8 my first semester, 3.4 the second. Marketing and philosophy major. Black female EFC 0 thanks for everyone's help.
Is there a full-ride scholarship, grant, or any kind of financial aid a deaf student can receive? I am a junior in high school and I was born deaf. I currently am enrolled in three AP classes of English, US History, and Biology along with Pre-Calculus and Competitive Speech and Debate. I have been involved in three clubs, high school softball the entire time, competitive softball and still keep up a 3.7 grade point average. I am an aspiring journalist and wish to go to an University of California or an California State University after I graduate. Ever since my freshman year colleges have been chasing after me, and I already have narrowed it to a good list of five. What worries me though is how college will get paid. My parents quit their jobs for six months just so we could get more family time, remodel the house, et cetera so therefore I will have to figure out how to get it paid. Other than the Department of Rehabilition, do you know of any scholarships, grants, or a different form of financial aid that will pay for college in full, without me needing to repay?
i ask that how should i start my career wit such qualification 12th calss graduate and study DBA with HRM? One brother told me such that (If at all possible go on and go to college. That is first and foremost. If you want to go to college here it the states apply for a student visa card at the American Embassy. Most of the time they will be every helpful helping you apply. It is also a good idea to have a list of the colleges you want to go to when they ask. While you are at it question them about scholarships and grants if you are going to need financial assistance.) but i also have financial problem what should i do i don't want to be terrorist.
Some scholarships are unfair! >:( I need your opinion.? Why is that scholarships award based solely on financial need when there are sooo many government grants available for students who are financially needy. The students who qualify for financial need already get a lot of free money from the government so I dont think they need any private scholarships than students who aren't needy. Scholarships should be given to those middle class students who aren't poor enough to recieve aid and who arent rich enough to pay for college. It is not the student's fault that their parents worked hard in the past to get a well paying job and better opportunities for their children. We shouldn't be punished by being denied scholarships that award based on financial need if we have the same (and maybe better)qualifications than the needy children. Every time a scholarship app asks me "List any special circumstances that indicate financial need" I have nothing to write (and I'm not going to lie or make up some exaggerated story). This is unfair. You?
Finance college without grant or scholarships? For daughter: We "make too much" on the FAFSA. I got a loan for her last year, but they won't renew it. No one will give us or her a loan. Scholarships are bust (white/healthy) even the essay ones. She gets unsub. Stafford and $3k FRAG from state. Still $10k short. She was Dean's list last year - heartbroken not to continue. Anyone know of a miracle? We're praying! Ralfcoder: So nice of you to assume that we are just lazy. I work full time and so does my husband. Daughter's car is broken, no public transport to work here. No assets to sell. No credit cards (bad credit from divorce) we have another child so working more than my 60 hours is not an option. Home doesn't have enough equity. You don't know what others have been through just to acquire what little they have so maybe you need to think more before you just put out a flip answer. 10k is a fortune to some people!! rtfm: Her roommate went to the local state school until someone was murdered in the parking lot outside her dorm. Oh, and she would have been required to take a course in "transgendered issues" for her psych major. Our values don't fit there, sorry.
