I am a resident of Texas and would like to expand my business. We have been open for 6 months. Is Texas a good place to start a business? I have 320,000 to start my own business excluding loans and grants if I qualify. Small Business Loans and/or Grants for Minorities? I am a Filipino (hopefully looking for answers from any other filipino experianced in this matter) looking to either obtain a small business loan, state, government, or privatized funded grant, or other acquirable capital to buy into a small business that is essentially a franchise. Is it true business partnerships never workout? I want to own a business but not in the state where I currently live in (Hawaii). I plan on moving to Portland or some other city in the Pacific Coast in the future but these states are also not business friendly. I want to own a business in Texas but not live there, If I can make a LLC partnership in Texas, it would work out because I can share ideas with my business partner through emails and I can visit Texas ocassionally for meetings. My accounting professor discourages business partnerships because he says it never works out but my Business Law professor told me you just have to be careful when making a contract with your business partner. How many grants can you receive? I am attending a community college right now (2010-2011), and will attend at the same institution in the 2011-2012 year as well. I have received $6,300 in financial aid from the college including the Federal Pell Grant (5,500 this year) and a Federal ACG grant (750 this year). I'm not sure how my EFC looks but it should be less than 2,000. Just an overlook on my financial standings. I will be transferring to TCU full time and looking at about $60k+ in tuition in order to attend the business school there. Total expenses are showing in between 80k and 90k, give or take particular choices in room/board. I have a list of several Federal/Texas grants that I meet the criteria for, but how many grants will I most likely receive? Below is a list of everything TCU/myself meet: (Name/Max amounts per year) Texas Pell Grant - $4,731 Fed. Pell Grant - $5,500 SEOG - $4,000 TEGP - $3,808 TCOG Program - $4,731 TEXAS Grant (not the pell) - $6,808 and also the Tuition Reduction for Students Taking More than 15 Hours. So again, what is the likelihood that I will receive many of these? If I received all of these then I would be cleared entirely and debt free, but obviously that doesn't really make much sense in the scheme of things. Start a wedding site business? My wife and I were looking at starting a wedding site business. Basically what we would like to do is have a facility that can host outdoor/indoor weddings and rent out the facility. We were married in an awesome outdoor facility and think that this would be a great business adventure. Here is a few more donors to Perry and what they receive in return. $37 million in donations from a total of 148 people. Houston Engineering Firm owner James Dannenbaum donates $320,000 in return he gets multiple transportation contracts. Dannenbaum is also appointed to the UT Board of Regents. Mississippi based Poultry Plant run by Joe Sanderson donates $165,000 in return he gets a $500,000 Business incentive grant for a hatchery and processing plant. Auto Magnet primary Austin Formula, Race track investor B.J. Red McCombs donates $400,000 in return he receives a state pledge of $25 million per year in subsidies to support the project. And the Grand Daddy of them all: Harold Simmons owner of Waste Control Specialist (WCS). He donates $1.2 million, in return he gets $500,000 million to build waste plant in Texas. This funding was given by Texas under the assumption that the plant would make profits for the state. Perry was informed that this company would not be a good investment and it already is losing millions a year. Even after knowing this, he gives the funding a thumbs up. The owner of this company takes the money then openly admits he used some of the funding to get a law changed. Now the company gets the profits that normally went to the state. A team of experts spent 3 years researching the potential plant construction, their results showed that it would be a enormous hazard to the environment. What happens next? Perry gets a $1 million dollar donation from a Lobbyist Glen Shankel. In return Perry newly appoints Shankel to over see the experts and their study. Shankel without explanations reverses the experts findings and gives his approvals to go ahead. Numerous experts shake their head and say Texas Tax payers will now have to pay more to eventually clean up this toxic dump. I can not understand why Texas supported Perry and his running for Presidency? how can anyone afford this? Perry is collecting millions and giving the tax payers money away for it in return.

Is it possible to get my Texas marriage annulled after my divorce? During the marriage my husband conned me into fronting all his business ventures because he had no credit and I had excellent credit. I am now in debt over $200k, my credit is ruined, about to lose my home and he is long gone. He left me with the debts and creditors demanding their money. He left the state before the divorce was final and never returned. The marriage was a sham. He lied to me and I consider the marriage a fraud. Is it possible to have this marriage annulled even though I have already been granted a no-fault divorce. I have also reently found out that his last name is also not the name of his birth certificate. He was never legally adopted. Only after our divorce was I told this information and my married name is not even his legal name. What can I do? Need to mention that the most significant debts are included in the divorce decree as 50/50 liability. This however is not my question.

Why do you believe that taxes are the problem? If wages had kept up with production in this country the medium income wold be $60,000 instead of $40.000. Henry Ford was asked why he payed his workers so much, and he replied "so they can buy my cars." Some how this simple concept has been lost on the business community. You lower taxes for the middle class and another branch of goverment (state, federal, and local ) raise fees. Texas is a prime example of this, just look into thier plans for toll roads: which are a tax in disguise, and the money pulled out of this will not go into the public coffers, it will go to investers who are granted a monopoly. The heads of corporations are over compensated i.e. over a 190 million doller retirement package for the retiring CEO. of Exxon Mobil. EVERY NATION THAT HAS FAILED TO MAINTAIN A VIBRANT MIDDLE CLASS HAS FALLEN. Learn your history, or are we to wait until the peasants are in the streets with pitch forks, and torches, while the 1st lady says "let them eat cake".

Principle #6 begins, : We believe in… Self-sufficient families, founded on the traditional marriage of a natural man and a natural woman. That principle concurs with roughly 76% of Texas voters (which was the percentage that voted to support an amendment to the Texas Constitution to ban same-sex marriage, or anything even similar to it). But it gets far more frightening. Under the bold, uppercase heading, “Strengthening Families, Protecting Life and Promoting Health” the Texas GOP outlines why I should be legislated back into the closet and how they intend to do it: Family and Defense of Marriage – We support the definition of marriage as a God–ordained, legal and moral commitment only between a natural man and a natural woman, which is the foundational unit of a healthy society, and we oppose the assault on marriage by judicial activists. *** We further call on Congress to pass and the state legislatures to ratify a marriage amendment declaring that marriage in the United States shall consist of and be recognized only as the union of a natural man and a natural woman. You’ll note that the Texas GOP is asking that marriage rights in other states be revoked as well. Office Store front leasing agreement- no clue, is it a good deal? I am starting a business, it is a careeer school, and will attrack low income people in the neighborhood. Is Rick Perry the next president of the United States? According to this opinion piece on Fox News he is (Fox News? What a surprise!). McCullough says: #1 - Perry has created more jobs than Obama. Wrong! I've lived in Texas for over 20 years and I know a little bit about the state. Ask any Texas history or political professor and he'll tell you that the position of governor is one of the weakest positions in the country. There is very little a governor can do in this state. Perry did not and could not single-handedly bring jobs to the state. Granted, he's done more with the position than anyone else, but that doesn't account for the jobs. He's largely been the beneficiary of previous administrations and legislatures that have created conditions that make Texas pro-business and pro-energy. Plus, being a big oil state, whenever oil prices go up, guess what? We make money! Plus, our energy infrastructure (unlike California) was built for growth. #2 Perry Respects the importance of Small Business. Can't argue with that too much. He loves attracting businesses by giving away freebies and corporate tax breaks (i.e. corporate welfare). But as I stated before a governor doesn't have very much power and as President, he would have even less. A president CANNOT create jobs! #3. Perry Understands the Issue of State Sovereignty. True, Perry likes being governor of the "Lone Star" state so much that he once joked about seceding from the United States. How can Republicans call themselves patriotic and at the same time want to break off from the USA? Makes no sense. I guess that's why people wave rebel flags - because they're "true patriots". But remember, this is exactly what they said about Bush and he changed his tune as soon as he joined the Federal branch. The question is do those translate into national convictions? In other words, as president he must represent the whole country - not just the Right Wing. Can he/will he make the transition? But again, does that translate to the national stage? The Movie "Machete" Causing a Stir Over Illegal Immigration? The post is a little long but this is a shorter version: Rodriguez made a point of promoting the film a few months ago with a trailer that called out the state of Arizona for its controversial new immigration-policing law, stoking fears among anti-illegal immigration hardliners that the finished movie would be even more inflammatory than it is. It also prompted the state of Texas to consider withholding filmmaker tax incentives from Rodriguez, a move that could have a devastating impact on movie production in a state that has become a haven for independent filmmaking thanks largely to Rodriguez himself. And it could well stir up an anti-immigrant fervor that could hurt the film at the box office or even impact this fall's Congressional elections. That's a lot of backlash for one little movie full of laughably over-the-top violence and sexuality, but then, Rodriguez and his crew have hardwired outrage into 'Machete,' so they can't be too surprised if it riles people. But lawmakers in Arizona are fed up with the enormous toll that illegal aliens are having on their state as the feds sit idly by and fail to secure the southern border, according to a Judicial Watch report obtained by the National Association of Chiefs of Police. In the past few years they’ve chipped away at the crisis with other measures, though this is by far the most hard-hitting and definitely among the country’s toughest immigration enforcement laws. The measure, passed this week by the Arizona House and previously approved by the Senate, grants police the power to stop and verify the immigration status of anyone suspected of being illegal and requires foreign nationals to carry proof of legal residency. This includes the man known as “America’s sheriff” Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix. Sheriff Arpaio has been targeted by the Obama Justice Department and Democrats in his own state because of his tough immigration enforcement policy. Illegal aliens will be charged in state court with trespassing and anyone — documented or undocumented –seeking work from a road or sidewalk will also be criminally prosecuted. Drivers who pick up illegal alien day laborers will also be punished when the law kicks in. Predictably, immigration advocates are incensed and have called on Arizona Governor Jan Brewer to veto the measure which they assert is racist. The legal director of an influential national group La Raza that represents day laborers calls it an “unconstitutional, unwise and odious bill” created by “demagogue leaders” who have become folk heroes for “white supremacists” throughout the country. Arizona lawmakers have long searched for ways to curb the colossal impact that illegal immigration has had on their state. A few years ago they enacted a law that punishes businesses that hire illegal immigrants, though the state has not penalized a single employer. Legislators allocated the sufficient funds (about $5 million) to enforce the law but a chunk of the money remains largely unspent by counties throughout the state, according to the JW report. Employers Bracing for Immigration Rules By SUZANNE GAMBOA and ANABELLE GARAY The Associated Press Friday, August 3, 2007; 12:42 AM WASHINGTON -- Employers across the country may have to fire workers with questionable Social Security numbers to avoid getting snagged in a Bush administration crackdown on illegal immigrants. The Department of Homeland Security is expected to make public soon new rules for employers notified when a worker's name or Social Security number is flagged by the Social Security Administration. The rule as drafted requires employers to fire people who can't be verified as a legal worker and can't resolve within 60 days why the name or Social Security number on their W-2 doesn't match the government's database. Employers who don't comply could face fines of $250 to $10,000 per illegal worker and incident. "There's a lot of fear and anxiety about what this rule is going to mean, particularly in the agricultural sector," said Craig Regelbrugge, spokesman for the American Nursery and Landscape Association and co-chairman of the Agriculture Coalition for Immigration Reform. For years, the Social Security Administration has sent "no match" letters to workers and their employers notifying them of the information discrepancies, to make sure money withheld from a person's paycheck is credited to the correct worker. The letters are not shared with other government agencies because of privacy laws. Although employers are prohibited from hiring illegal workers, their responsibilities with the letters have generally ended with notifying the workers of the discrepancies and leaving it to them to deal with it. Attorneys have warned many employers to be careful not to fire a worker because they got a letter, because the no-match could be the result of a typo in a name or number, a computer error, a name change that wasn't reported after marriage or other reasons. But those who don't comply with the new rule could be deemed as knowingly hiring an illegal worker. The Department of Homeland Security says the new rule provides guidance to employers on how to deal with workers who receive no-match letters and what to do _ fire them _ if the issue is not resolved in 60 days and they can't verify their workers are legal. It gives employers who comply immunity from penalties if illegal workers are found at their business in an investigation or raid, said Russ Knocke, Homeland Security department spokesman. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a division of the Homeland Security Department, "is going to be tough and aggressive in the enforcement of the law," Knocke said. "You are going to see more work site cases. And no more excuses." The administration trotted out the stepped-up enforcement plan last summer but put it on hold while the Senate debated an immigration reform bill. That bill would have granted a chance at legal status for the estimated 11 million to 12 million illegal immigrants in the country and created a temporary worker program. It also would have required employers to verify the status of all their workers. After the bill collapsed in Congress, employers started bracing for the tougher rule. "Congress didn't act. They didn't do what they needed to do on comprehensive immigration reform. Now there's going to be some pain to pay, and Congress is not going to feel the pain right away, it's the communities (of employees), and that's a real shame," said Laura Reiff, co-chairwoman of the Essential Workers Immigration Coalition, a national group of business and trade associations. For Mark Chamblee, the stricter rule could mean losing some of his 28 workers at his nursery in Tyler, Texas. Chamblee suspects a few of his workers could have trouble with their Social Security numbers and said he will fire them if the problems aren't resolved. "Of course, it would add to the workload for the other workers," he said. "It would reduce our production and our output. Not all of our demand would be met on our products. Operating costs would go up." Ray Atkinson, a spokesman for Pilgrim's Pride Corp., confirmed that the country's largest chicken processing company recently fired employees at two Texas plants. The company's policy "for some time now" has been to terminate employees who can't clear up discrepancies, Atkinson said. "We're all very cautious and we're all very nervous," Chamblee said.

My question relates to the abuse of power by a District Attorney's office.? recently a lawsuit was filed in a County in Texas against the lawyers working for the county who advice the County and Commissioners when contracts with the County come before them, the main reason being the D.A. prosecutor claims the county was given "ill advice," which caused the county tax dollars, but that in in itself is not a crime in my opinion, however, a restratining order was granted by a district judge halting all county business since the D.A. is suing all the commmissioners and the county counsel and also insists on the D.A.'s office handling the counsel representing county business, which I feel is wrong and unethical and in violation of the separation of state and county powers. I feel the D.A. is attempting to power grab and interfering with county business as well as halting and hurting the business of county government.
What would you do in this life-changing situation? Living with my mother is like hell. The only reason for staying is because I am in my senior year of high school (in GA) and to stay would mean free college due to the Hope program and also my friends whom I've had for over 8 years. My father (who used to live in California) is now moving to Houston, Texas. Living with him would mean a better life and grant me happiness. However, I would spend my last year in high school in Texas (making new friends...etc) and I would lose Hope (you have to be a resident for GA for at least a year to receive Hope). While my dad promised to pay for my college, it is (as of now) an empty promise. He's currently getting investors for his job and is therefore virtually jobless (making no money). However, he claims that he will make millions once this business launches (it's a great business and perfect for these economic times, so I know it will be successful). Should I take the chance of losing Hope, leave my friends, and move to Texas with my father (I'd leave my home in three weeks)? OR should I continue to live in unhappiness with my mother, but with my friends and the possible chance at receiving Hope? I don't know what to do... I'm willing to leave my friends, it will be painful, but I can do it. It's mainly college I'm worried about; what if this business doesn't come through and I lose Hope? I'll have to take a year off and go live in GA to receive Hope if my father can't pay for my college... I have to make a decision by next week and I just don't know what to do. I was kicking field goals..? Consider this passage from the press release: According to plea documents, from at least June 2007 until approximately January 2008, Fessahazion was the Guatemalan link of an alien smuggling network that spans East Africa, Central and South America. Specifically, Fessahazion illegally entered the United States at McAllen, Texas, on March 20, 2008. He applied for asylum on Sept. 30, 2008, claiming in his application that he was traveling across Africa in 2007 and 2008, fleeing persecution in Eritrea. However, Fessahazion was actually in Guatemala during that period facilitating the smuggling of East African aliens to the United States. Fessahazion was granted asylum by the United States on Nov. 13, 2008. If Fessahazion had not been able to con the bureaucracy at USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services), it is entirely possible he would not have been able to remain in the United States or travel freely across our borders, an ability he gained when the agency charged with maintaining the integrity of the immigration benefits program failed yet again. According to the press release, Fessahazion, himself, ran our nation's border on March 20, 2008 and then he applied for political asylum roughly six months later. He had either studied our immigration "system" or had been well coached. In any event, he was granted political asylum in less than six weeks. I have to repeat this to make certain you did not miss what I just wrote: Fessahazion was granted political asylum just six weeks after he applied for asylum, even though he claimed to have been facing persecution in Eritrea nearly half way around the world! Meanwhile, the investigation disclosed that while he claimed he was fleeing persecution in Eritrea, he was apparently dodging law enforcement in Guatemala as he smuggled East African aliens through that country en route to the United States. For an illegal alien (Fessahazion) to file an application for political asylum based on credible fear while, in reality, he was smuggling aliens into our country is a clear case of chutzpah. In order to apply for political asylum, an alien must establish "credible fear." This means he must prove to our government that if he is returned to his country his life will be in grave danger because of his religion or other such factor. I would love to see the Report of Investigation (ROI) to discover how USCIS conducted its investigation into Fessahazion's claim to "credible fear" in just six weeks. The granting of lawful status to aliens who enter our country is serious business. Before we go any further, however, I do want to make an important point. Many aliens who are granted political asylum are not engaged in criminal activities but are fleeing truly horrific situations in their home countries. My concern is that the vetting process is apparently more geared toward keeping the bureaucratic production line moving at warp speed rather than making certain that meaningful efforts are made to see to it that the process has integrity. This is the clear obligation of our government and it is yet another obligation that is not being met. There have been a succession of GAO and OIG reports that document just how big a problem fraud is throughout the entire immigration benefits program, a program that is administered by USCIS. USCIS is the agency that would be called upon to spring into action (likely landing on its collective face) if our government manages to jam Comprehensive Immigration Reform down our throats. It is absolutely astounding that the advocates for open borders and a sweeping amnesty program from millions of illegal aliens whose true identities, backgrounds, intentions and possible affiliation with criminal or terrorist organizations under the aegis of "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" keep noting how broken the system is. Yet they claim that the solution is for the same broken system to be given the job of handing out the keys to America's front door regardless of the irreparable damage that this inept agency has already done to our nation's security. The leaked oil spread nearly 650 miles along the coast of California over a period of three months. It is estimated that 8000 birds and 15000 fish were killed in the disaster. After this incident, the citizens of Santa Barbara started a coalition to ban offshore drilling. They received nearly 20000 signatures on their petition and were granted their wish, ensuring that Santa Barbara’s coast was protected from drilling. These people have stood up for their coast’s environment; now why can’t the rest of the US? The oil industry argues that offshore oil drilling will make many jobs, that the US coasts have a lot of oil, and that offshore oil platforms do not affect tourism. This is completely untrue though which is why the United States needs to ban all off shore oil-drilling of the east and west coasts of the US; They need to do this because offshore oil drilling will not make many jobs, the US does not have much oil along the coasts, and offshore oil platforms will destroy tourism. One of the problems with offshore oil drilling is that the new platforms will not make many jobs. Although the oil industry says that nearly 1 million jobs would be created, this is incorrect. As stated by MSNBC.com writer Mark Murray “only 22-25 people work on each oil rig at a time”. The oil industry would argue that this statistic is false this is also completely untrue though as the figure simply states how many people work on the platform at a time. Also by this estimate only one hundred thousand jobs will be made for the proposed 4000 new oil platforms, which is nowhere close to the oil industry’s proposed number of jobs. Another thing the oil industry does not want people to realize is that because of massive offshore oil-drilling platforms jobs will actually be lost. People that rely on the ocean such as fishermen, dive teams, and marine merchantmen would lose jobs. Virginia would be hurt heavily by offshore oil because of this. Because the ocean is Virginia’s main source of revenue we would lose money that could have been spent on Virginias Public Works. Tourism would also be affected by offshore oil drilling. Tourism is another large form of income for Virginia Beach. Surfing is a major reason for the massive tourist presence in Virginia Beach. If an oil spill were to occur from one of the proposed oil drilling platforms off the East Coast the beaches would be closed down until the oil was cleaned up, which has in some very severe cases taken up to three months to do. In 1982 a massive oil spill closed down San Padre Island off the coast of Texas for an entire summer. In a 2009 Politifact.com article written by Aaron Sharockman, ‘offshore oil drilling has cost the tourism industry before’ states “Texas beaches in the South Padre Island area lost tourism revenues between 4 million and 4 1/2 million [dollars]”. Another way offshore oil drilling would affect tourism is by forcing local businesses to lower prices. The reason for these price changes would be; that since these massive eyesores would disrupt the views from U.S. beaches the only reason tourists would tolerate them would be by much cheaper prices. This could then result in local businesses going out of business. This would then affect the amount of tourism, which in turn would start this cycle over again. Another debate about offshore oil drilling is how much oil is located along the east and west coasts. As stated by The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace writer Whitney Leonard’s in ‘Five alternatives that make more sense than offshore oil’. The oil industry says that approx. 10% of the worlds oil supply is located on the east and west coasts. This is also an untruth which has been stated by the oil industry, as “only about 1.4 percent of the worlds supply of oil” comes from offshore oil drilling off the coast of the United States. 1.4 percent of the worlds oil supply is approx. 18 billion barrels of oil. This may sound like a lot but the US would use that amount of oil in only about a little over two years. The reason we would use this much oil is because the US consumes nearly 25% of the world’s oil supply, while the US only produces 10% of it. This will very soon become a major issue unless better fuel alternatives are found. Because of the small amount of oil located in the world waste is not an option, so when massive oil spills occur it is not only a disaster for the environment it also causes a massive devastation to the economy. I need help with my punctuation and what corrections need to be made. Thank you in advance. 1.) Today, I am happy to say that due my faith and determination, I am living my dream. My wife and I just celebrated our 12th anniversary and couldn’t be happier. Ours sons are in school setting and accomplishing there own goals now. I enjoy my job and no longer resent having to go to work each morning. I have purchased our first home, and we now have health insurance. Now not only do I provide my family with the necessities, but I can afford he extras as well. Our family has the luxury of taking annual vacations, dining out more, and participating in other forms of entertainment. I am now in a better position to “ Keep up with the Joneses”. 2.) In the past five years I have gained a real sense of accomplishment. This all started when I enrolled at CTU and earned a bachelors degree in Business Administration. Once I earned my degree I applied for my dream job at Texas A&M and was hired. I am now the Vice President of Internal Relations for the 12th Man Foundation at Texas A&M. The income I earn has given me the ability to pay off past debts and purchase our first home. We no longer struggle trying to live the paycheck to paycheck lifestyle. Now we are able to put our extra money into savings, and make investments in our and our sons future. 3.)Because I am a husband and father I must work to provide basic necessities and pay bills. Being the head of a family is a full time job , add on 40+ hours a week for work and make adjustments for activities of daily living , at the end of each week I find myself short on time and money. This leaves me feeling guilty and a little selfish for taking any extra time or money to use for myself, even if it is for the purpose of eventually providing more for my family. I have been able to combat the financial aspects of this problem by obtaining a Pell Grant. To cope with the lack of time I have with my family I took a lighter course load, and I do my online courses while they sleep. My fear that I lack in both drive and intelligence is due to the fact that this is not my first attempt at college. After graduating high school I attended Hocking College in Nelsonville Ohio. I was working full time and lived at home. I didn’t make time to study and was more interested in going out and having fun with my non college friends . At the end of my freshman year I dropped out with barley passing scores. I honestly thought I could easily make a living without a degree. Now I have so many more legitimate reasons to give up when it gets hard. Instead I am using these same reasons to push through and reach my full potential. The fear that has held me back all these years is failing and disappointing my family. When I fail in life it does not only affect me it affects my family as well. If I make a poor decision my family suffer the repercussions along with me. I also want to be a good example for my sons. This is allot of pressure ,but I also have realized that it is better to try and risk failing than to never try. For me the key to success is never giving up. I want to state for the record that I was not taking any illegal substance, or anything outside of my physician's care, and that the suspension was unwarranted. However, rather than fight the suspension or publicly voice my discontent, I used this recent hiatus to rest, work with the P.W.A., and reflect on the direction of my career as a professional wrestler. I also, for the record, have never at any time ordered anything from "Signature Pharmacy". This allegation is upsetting, and the careless and slanderous reporting of this matter is currently being addressed by my legal counsel. I would like to also address any possible rumors or misinformation regarding our release from WWE. I had been unhappy for quite some time with the direction that the Company was going in. In fact, I asked for my release back in July for that very reason. However, after further contemplation, I decided to continue on with WWE because of my passion for this industry and my desire to entertain the fans. Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that my unhappiness with my work environment was beginning to take a great toll on other aspects of my life. I knew that it was time to make some extremely tough decisions. Therefore, in the interest of my mental, physical, and spiritual well being, I along with my wife, asked for our release from World Wrestling Entertainment for the second time within months. We were graciously granted our release and we have since amicably parted ways. Western blindness Yet, now more importantly, we also discovered that the American and British governments knew and kept the bank open for a long time. The bank "that would bribe God" was able to get away with its criminal activities for decades due to Abedi's clever portrayal of the Muslim nations as victims of Western—and particularly U.S.— "imperialism." And when the bank was shuttered, the accusation in the Muslim/Arab and Third World countries was that the U.S. and the United Kingdom governments closed the bank to curtail the growing fiscal power of Muslim countries. Clinton appeasement Despite its stated policy of not negotiating with terrorists, the Clinton administration went out of its way to appease a few of the 20th century's most notorious terror groups: the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), the PLO and the Irish Republican Army. On the eve of the 1993 handshake on the White House lawn between Israeli Prime Minister Yitzak Rabin and PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat, Britain's National Criminal Intelligence Service estimated the PLO's ill-gotten gains to total between $8 billion to $10 billion, with an annual income of about $1.5 billion to $2 billion from "donations, extortion, payoffs, illegal arms dealing, drug trafficking, money laundering, fraud, etc." Since then, Washington has only aided and abetted the PLO. Since the start of the Oslo process, Arafat has received at least $3 billion more from the United States and the international community, without any serious demand for accountability, according to a report this year to Congress. Arafat, in well-documented instances, has been systematically skimming off portions of these funds, as he has with monies given to him on behalf of the refugees in the camps. The PLO was in the drug trafficking business almost from the beginning. Operating from Lebanon, under Habash's able leadership and assisted by a PLO-owned shipping company SUMUD, the organization exported hashish, opium, heroin and cocaine, first to Europe and later even to the United States and Australia. In return, it obtained weapons for their war against Israel and the West, and amassed a massive treasure trove. In addition, the PLO and Arafat, who enjoy the financial and strategic support of Hussein and bin Laden, have the distinction of being the organization that promoted "suicide bombers" as a weapon. Yet the Clinton administration subsidized a multitude of radical Palestinian groups, ranging from Arafat's Fatah branch of the PLO and its military wing, the Tanzim, to the socialist-nationalist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), headed by George Habash, all with close ties to bin Laden, Iraq and Iran. ...It was the Clinton White House that, despite evidence to the contrary, removed Syria from its list of the drug trafficking countries, to entice Syria to join the "peace process" in the Middle East. "Moussaoui Says He Was to Hijack 5th Plane By MATTHEW BARAKAT, Associated Press Writer (Monday March 27, 2006) Al-Qaida conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui testified Monday that he and would-be shoe bomber Richard Reid were supposed to hijack a fifth airplane on Sept. 11, 2001, and fly it into the White House. Moussaoui's testimony on his own behalf stunned the courtroom. His account was in stark contrast to his previous statements in which he said the White House attack was to come later if the United States refused to release a radical Egyptian sheik imprisoned on earlier terrorist convictions. On Dec. 22, 2001, Reid was subdued by passengers when he attempted to detonate a bomb in his shoe aboard American Airlines Flight 63 from Paris to Miami. There were 197 people on board. The plane was diverted to Boston, where it landed safely. Moussaoui told the court he knew the World Trade Center attack was coming and that he lied to investigators when arrested in August 2001 because he wanted it to happen. "You lied because you wanted to conceal that you were a member of al- Qaida?" prosecutor Rob Spencer asked. "That's correct," Moussaoui said. Spencer: "You lied so the plan could go forward?" Moussaoui: "That's correct." The exchange was key to the government's case that the attacks might have been averted if Moussaoui had been more cooperative following his arrest. Moussaoui told the court he knew the attacks were coming some time after August 2001 and bought a radio so he could hear them unfold. Specifically, he said he knew the World Trade Center was going to be attacked, but asserted he was not part of that plot and didn't know the details. Nineteen men pulled off the Sept. 11 attacks on New York in Washington in the worst act of terrorism ever on U.S. soil. "I had knowledge that the Twin Towers would be hit," Moussaoui said. "I didn't know the details of this." Asked by his lawyer why he signed his guilty plea in April as "the 20th hijacker," Moussaoui replied: "Because everybody used to refer to me as the 20th hijacker and it was a bit of fun." Before Moussaoui took the stand, his lawyers made a last attempt to stop him from testifying, but failed. Defense attorney Gerald Zerkin argued that his client would not be a competent witness because he has contempt for the court, only recognizes Islamic law and therefore "the affirmation he undertakes would be meaningless." Moussaoui at first denied he was to have been a fifth hijack pilot Sept. 11 but under cross examination spoke of the plan that would have him attack the White House. He said Reid was the only person he knew for sure would have been on that mission, but others were discussed. The 19 terrorists on Sept. 11 hijacked and crashed four airliners, killing nearly 3,000 people in the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and on the planes. The intended target of the plane that crashed into a Pennsylvania field remains unknown. Moussaoui said he talked with an al-Qaida official in 1999 about why a 1993 bombing at the World Trade Center failed to bring the towers down. He said "was asked in the same period for the first time if I want to be a suicide pilot and I declined." Just before Moussaoui took the stand, the court heard testimony that two months before the attacks that a CIA deputy chief waited in vain for permission to tell the FBI about a "very high interest" al-Qaida operative who became one of the hijackers. The official, a senior figure in the CIA's Osama bin Laden unit, said he sought authorization on July 13, 2001, to send information to the FBI but got no response for 10 days, then asked again. As it turned out, the information on Khalid al-Mihdhar did not reach the FBI until late August. At the time, CIA officers needed permission from a special unit before passing certain intelligence on to the FBI. The official was identified only as John. His written testimony was read into the record. "John's" testimony was part of the defense's case that federal authorities missed multiple opportunities to catch hijackers and perhaps thwart the 9/11 plot. His testimony included an e-mail sent by FBI supervisor Michael Maltbie discussing Moussaoui but playing down his terrorist connections. Maltbie's e-mail said "there's no indication that (Moussaoui) had plans for any nefarious activity." He sent that e-mail to the CIA even after receiving a lengthy memo from the FBI agent who arrested Moussaoui and suspected him of being a terrorist with plans to hijack aircraft. Prosecutors argue that Moussaoui, a French citizen, thwarted a prime opportunity to track down the 9/11 hijackers and possibly unravel the plot when he was arrested in August 2001 on immigration violations and lied to the FBI about his al-Qaida membership and plans to hijack a plane. Had Moussaoui confessed, the FBI could have pursued leads that would have led them to most of the hijackers, government witnesses have testified. To win the death penalty, prosecutors must first prove that Moussaoui's actions — specifically, his lies — were directly responsible for at least one death on Sept. 11. SUPPORT HR 5092-- "THE BATFE MODERNIZATION AND REFORM ACT OF 2006" On April 5, the leaders of the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security--Representatives Howard Coble (R-N.C.), and Bobby Scott (D-Va.)--joined forces to introduce H.R. 5092, the "Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) Modernization and Reform Act of 2006." This bipartisan bill is a critical first step toward finally reforming BATFE. First and foremost, H.R. 5092 totally revises the system of administrative penalties for licensed dealers, manufacturers and importers of firearms. Today, for most violations, BATFE can only give an FFL holder a warning, or totally revoke the license. This bill would allow fines or license suspensions for less serious violations, while allowing license revocation for the kind of serious violations that would block an investigation or put guns in the hands of criminals. H.R. 5092 also clarifies the standard for violations-allowing penalties for intentional, purposeful violations of the law, but not for simple paperwork mistakes. Congress thought it had fixed this problem in 1986 when it passed the Firearms Owners' Protection Act, but the government has ignored that law-and has even argued in court that the 1986 changes were "without practical significance." The bill also improves the process by which BATFE imposes these penalties, notably by allowing FFLs to appeal BATFE penalties to a neutral administrative law judge, rather than to an employee of BATFE itself. H.R. 5092 would change BATFE's enforcement operations in several ways, from requiring the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Justice to review of BATFE gun show enforcement operations, to demanding that the Bureau establish clear investigative guidelines. Finally, the bill would focus BATFE's efforts on violations of firearms, explosives, arson, alcohol and tobacco laws, rather than non-jurisdictional areas. CONNECTICUT As we have been reporting, the anti-gun crowd has redoubled their efforts to pass last year's proposal to make it a crime to fail to report the loss or theft of a firearm within 72 hours from when you "knew or should have known" of the theft. This year's version is outrageous! H.B. 5818, now includes language that would subject gun owners to criminal investigation and jeopardy of prosecution even if they report the theft because a court will now be given the ability to decide whether the firearm was stored in such a manner that provided "substantial and unjustifiable risk" that it would be stolen. Even worse, if the police recover the firearm before the gun owner has discovered it missing and made the report, it will be considered automatic evidence of guilt of violation of this proposed law, as well as guilt of an illegal transfer. Conviction of the "illegal transfer," which is a felony, would permanently end your right to own a firearm! In response to the large number of phone calls that are coming in from legitimate gun owners, Connecticut Against Gun Violence has put out desperate pleas to the anti-gun crowd asking them to write, e-mail and call lawmakers in an effort to drown out your voice! DELAWARE The Delaware House of Representatives may be voting as early as Tuesday on H.B. 359, sponsored by Representative Deborah Hudson (R-12), the NRA-backed "shall-issue" Right-to-Carry bill. This bill would allow law-abiding citizens that fulfilled the requirements for a concealed weapons permit to be granted a permit without discrimination. The future of Right-to-Carry in Delaware depends on it! IDAHO Thanks to the efforts of NRA members across the State of Idaho who sent thousands of e-mails and made countless phone calls to State lawmakers, four important bills have become law in the state and a fifth is on the way. Senator Gerry Sweet (R-20) and Representative Bill Sali (R-21) co-sponsored three NRA-supported bills: House Bill 686 will protect non-profit shooting ranges and gun clubs from having taxes imposed on their range fees and membership dues; Senate Bill 1401, "Emergency Powers" legislation, will prevent government officials from imposing restrictions on the lawful possession, transfer, sale, transport, storage, display or use of firearms and ammunition during a disaster emergency; and Senate Bill 1428, "Right-to-Carry" reform legislation, that extends the concealed weapon license from four to five years and, like driver's licenses, requires renewal notices be sent out prior to license expiration. This bill also provides an exemption from the concealed weapon license requirement for a person who possesses a concealed weapon while on property he or she owns or leases. Senator Skip Brandt (R-8) proposed House Bill 608, legislation that creates an NRA motor vehicle license plate. This bill has also become law, so look to sign up for a special NRA license plate in the near future. The fifth bill, Senate Bill 1441, is "Castle Doctrine" legislation that would provide immunity from civil action for anyone who has used lawful force in self-defense. Under SB 1441, if a criminal attacks a victim and the victim successfully defends him or herself and, in the process, injures or kills the criminal, then neither the criminal nor the criminal's family can obtain a judgment against the victim for damages. This bill, carried by Senators Mel Richardson (R-32) and Joyce Broadsword (R-2), has passed both the Senate and House and is headed to the Governor's desk. ILLINOIS Thanks to the efforts of those who contacted their State Representative, H.B. 4853 passed the House with an NRA-supported amendment that excludes ammunition. The House concurred on this legislation with the Senate offered and NRA-supported amendment overwhelmingly by voting 115 to 1. Without this important amendment, H.B. 4853 as originally passed by the House could have been used to target ammunition manufacturers, distributors, users, and owners of property where firearms are lawfully discharged. This legislation will now head to the Governor's desk. LOUISIANA On Tuesday, the Senate Judiciary C Committee reported out S.B. 93, by Senator Joe McPherson (D-29), NRA-backed legislation amending the state's emergency powers act to prohibit the seizure and confiscation of legally possessed firearms in the unfortunate event of another natural disaster in the State of Louisiana. The "Tardy Amendment" would do the following: (1) Allow the court to order a person seeking a "protection from abuse" order--who is proven to be in "bad faith"--to pay damages and reasonable attorney's fees to the defendant and; (2) Makes law enforcement officials responsible for damage to firearms resulting from a lack of reasonable care, which are seized, surrendered or relinquished. Presently, the possibility of "bad faith" orders within the court system create a "shadow of doubt"--hurting the true victims of domestic violence. This measure would help eliminate "bad faith" orders from occurring, thus furthering validity for all legitimate "protection from abuse" proceedings. Furthermore, relinquished firearms are often damaged and sometimes never returned to the owner after a "protection from abuse" order is terminated. This amendment would correct that problem. Similar language recently passed the Pennsylvania Legislature and was supported by all stakeholders, including gun owners as well as domestic violence organizations. H.B. 4643 addresses a problem with concealed pistol licenses (CPL) being renewed in a timely fashion. Apparently, the Detroit area was taking 9 to 10 months to renew concealed pistol licenses! HB 4643 corrects the renewal process by requiring a proper renewal to be completed within 60 days or the license is extended for 180 days or until the permit is renewed. H.B. 4642 allows a licensed spouse to carry or transport another licensed spouse's inspected pistol. A thank you goes out to Governor Granholm for signing these two important Right-to-Carry reform bills into law. NEW YORK On April 9, members of the Assembly Health Committee are set to consider A. 6608A, sponsored by Assemblywoman Ginny Fields (D-5), an NRA-supported bill that would protect existing shooting ranges from new noise ordinances and nuisance lawsuits aimed at shutting them down. A. 6608A provides that facilities must comply with noise ordinances in place at the time of construction of the range. The Senate companion bill to A 6608A, S. 3353A, is sponsored by Senator Dale Volker (R-59) and could be voted on by the full Senate at any time. can I have opinions please on the senate loading the war funding bill with domestic programs? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080520/ap_on_go_co/congress_iraq_funding Senate loads war funding bill with domestic programs By ANDREW TAYLOR, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 1 minute ago WASHINGTON - Despite numerous veto threats, senators in both parties have loaded up President Bush's war funding bill with a grab bag of domestic programs, including work permits for immigrant farm labor and heating subsidies for the poor. ADVERTISEMENT The Senate was scheduled to begin debate on the measure Tuesday, just days after a key panel added more about $28 billion to Bush's budget request for this year and next, with almost $50 billion more for a big expansion of veterans benefits under the GI Bill over 2010-2018. The new GI Bill and Democratic priorities like extending unemployment benefits are simply the big-ticket add-ons, both of which have drawn veto threats. There's also $50 million to track down child predators, $400 million to help rural schools and $350 million fight western wildfires, just for starters. Senators are acting as if the war funding bill coming to the floor Tuesday is the last train leaving the station, and, as a result, have added billions of dollars for pet programs and hitched on several policy "riders" as well. Few if any other spending bills are likely to come before the Senate this election year, which makes the supplemental measure an even more attractive vehicle for carrying spending proposals that would stall otherwise. The White House is fighting the add-ons much more vigorously than it did during last year's bruising war funding debate. Then, it accepted $17 billion in spending that Bush didn't ask for as the price for getting an Iraq war funding bill that didn't tie his hands on the war. Now that it's clear that Democrats won't insist on a troop withdrawal timeline, the White House is focusing on making sure the measure doesn't exceed his request. The Senate war funding bill combines $194.1 billion in spending over 2008-2009 for war funding, foreign aid, military base construction, heating subsidies and a variety of smaller items. Then there's $14.5 billion to give 13 weeks of unemployment checks to people whose benefits have run out and $51.6 billion over 10 years to improve GI Bill benefits. There's $108 billion remaining from Bush's war funding request for the 2008 budget year ending Sept. 30. But the White House appears willing to lump that request together with $70 billion to carry the war into next spring, as well as Bush's $5.8 billion request to construct levees in Louisiana. That puts Bush's request at $183.8 billion — more than $10 billion below the Senate measure. The immigrant farm labor provision added to the measure at a hearing last week by Sens Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and Larry Craig, R-Idaho, would allow almost 1.4 million immigrant farm workers to stay in the United States for up to five years to ease a shortage of farm workers that has left some crops rotting in the fields. Sens. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., and Judd Gregg, R-N.H., followed that up with a provision to extend an expired program to allow seasonal workers to return to the country using H-2B visas. Gregg, typically a fiscal conservative, voted with Democrats at last week's hearing to adopt $1 billion worth of additional energy subsidies for the poor. That provision led top Appropriations panel Republican Thad Cochran of Mississippi — himself the driving force behind $1 billion for coastal restoration in Mississippi — to warn his colleagues that they were simply guaranteeing a Bush veto. Still, Republicans such as Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas — a member of the Senate GOP leadership team — pressed ahead with add-ons of their own. Hutchison won approval of $100 million in grants to local law enforcement to fight drug trafficking along the U.S.-Mexico border. It's the type of situation White House budget director Jim Nussle had in mind last month when he chided senators for a "sky-is-the-limit mind-set" regarding "the desire of some in Congress to load up this troop funding bill with tens of billions in additional spending." Republican Sen. Kit Bond of Missouri moved to keep open three "veterans business resource centers" with $600,000 in taxpayer funds. One of the centers, naturally, is in St. Louis; the others were in Flint, Mich., and Boston. Pacer, that's the absolute truth. OMG: BOOKER T RELEASEd? reported and confirmed by WWE earlier today, Booker T and Sharmell's release from World Wrestling Entertainment is effective October 27. These releases had been expected by some even before Booker's 60-day drug suspension from the company. It should also be noted that the decision was made by Booker and Sharmell to leave the company and not WWE. Lic. Manuel R. Batista passed on a link to a statement by Booker T on his official website regarding his and Sharmell's release from WWE effective October 27: Announcement We want to begin by thanking the many wonderful WWE fans that we have had the privilege of entertaining over the last eight years. Sharmell and I have enjoyed the opportunity to put smiles on your faces night after night. We also want to thank everyone in the wrestling community for their support of our very own P.W.A. (Pro Wrestling Alliance). The dream of bringing professional wrestling back to my home town of Houston, Texas is coming to fruition, and we have you to thank for it. I want to address something that has been on my mind for quite some time now in regards to my recent suspension from WWE. I want to state for the record that I was not taking any illegal substance, or anything outside of my physician's care, and that the suspension was unwarranted. However, rather than fight the suspension or publicly voice my discontent, I used this recent hiatus to rest, work with the P.W.A., and reflect on the direction of my career as a professional wrestler. I also, for the record, have never at any time ordered anything from "Signature Pharmacy". This allegation is upsetting, and the careless and slanderous reporting of this matter is currently being addressed by my legal counsel. I would like to also address any possible rumors or misinformation regarding our release from WWE. I had been unhappy for quite some time with the direction that the Company was going in. In fact, I asked for my release back in July for that very reason. However, after further contemplation, I decided to continue on with WWE because of my passion for this industry and my desire to entertain the fans. Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that my unhappiness with my work environment was beginning to take a great toll on other aspects of my life. I knew that it was time to make some extremely tough decisions. Therefore, in the interest of my mental, physical, and spiritual well being, I along with my wife, asked for our release from World Wrestling Entertainment for the second time within months. We were graciously granted our release and we have since amicably parted ways. While the business relationship between ourselves and the WWE has ended, we will continue to be involved in Professional Wrestling. So if your protecting him and your enemy draws blood, just cast a few droplets on him. Either he will be unconscious or dead due to the fact if the enemy is human or not. Whenever you are happy, you will glow. Yes, what all those silly humans on earth want is for their face to radiate their skin tone, but Violet, this glow ,if electrified by too much happiness, it will be strong enough to blind; so you must keep that in control. And lastly you cannot fall in love with any of these humans. Your supernatural aura will set off alarms in every demons mind by being so close to Earth. The humans cannot be harmed by the wicked of this world.” he said the last sentence in a glum tone. I wonder why. I know no human should ever be hurt but this went beyond glum tones. Almost heartbreaking. I began to ponder the negatives and positives of this decision, but quickly came up with my answer. Of course, I would give up anything to be on Earth again and not with just a few rules and guidelines, I could be signed up to be the very first guardian angel. “My Lord, I have come to a decision. I will be a guardian.” I said with strong confidence in my voice. Father looked so happy about my choice. Honestly, I was happy with it as well. But as I started searching the features on his saint-like face I noticed there was too much happiness. Either because the cruel world was in need of saving or because I finally snapped out of my abnormal depression I will never know. “So, Vie, I’ve already gotten everything taken care of. Your human’s name is Tristan Chase Azeaa. Sex: male. 17 years of age. Birth date: April 15, 1992.” he spoke in somewhat of a business like tone. It made me feel grown up. The wish I will never be granted. It was somewhat silly for me to go beyond reasons of his voice tones, but once he smiled at me I know he did it on purpose. “So Father, why does this boy need my help?” I asked rather perplexed. Sure there’s a lot of kids that need help. Doing drugs, drinking; I’ve seen it all myself. Such a shame this world has come to. I grimaced inwardly. Such people were the cause of my death and I will make sure that my fate doesn’t happen to any other character. No matter how bad the person might be. “Well, this boy got into a car accident from a drunk driver. The drunk driver was unharmed but unfortunately for Tristan, the accident caused him some major brain damage. Its very hard to explain but his mental state makes him talk and act like a child. He is being tormented at school daily and that hurts him emotionally while seniors at his high school torment him physically. With all of the pain Tristan is radiating off him, it will cause a trigger in hell that will make Lucifer himself come and make Tristan sell his soul. You must be very careful Violet, he can turn into anyone, possess anyone, and do anything. He can kill you only by killing Tristan. Please protect Tristan and be safe. You’re my baby girl and if you get killed you cannot return to Heaven. Your soul will be sold to him. Don’t hurt me like that okay?” his voice was so full of such raw emotion that my all of my heartstrings thought they were going to be pulled. Halfway through the speech, he crossed the room and embraced me very tightly. I felt so protected in his arms. My dad. This will be the last time I see him for God knows how long. But in the end this will be worth it. I know it. Father and I embraced each other for a few more minutes before I pulled away. Throughout the rest of the night I learned the Tristan and his parents lived in Denton, Texas. His parents both worked as doctors which helped Tristan plenty; the money and the education of how to treat Tristan. I would be enrolling in Denton High School and pulling off the look of an eleventh grader because that’s what grade Tristan was in After about 20 minutes of learning information about Tristan and his family, God told me I would learn more about the family once I got closer to Tristan. He then proceeded to tell me that I should pack my things. I got out of his office with a ridiculously goofy smile on my face. I glided dazed across the floors and reached my bedroom, where I proceeded to stumble stupidly while packing my large amount of clothes. When you’re the undead and you have a mall near by the clothes just pile up over the years… along with the shoes. I smiled. After packing all of my valuable things I decided to take a quick shower. I looked at my appearance in the bathroom mirror and looked at the violet eyes staring back at me. I hoped with every fiber of my being that my eye color didn’t change to blue or green because purple eyes were my trademark. But, alas, I thought, at least my wish will be granted at last. I got in the shower while the warm water tumbled along my body and calming my excited muscles. I stayed like that for a good 15 minut Sorry, just a random part in my book
