Is there such thing as a full academic scholarship to a 4 year college? I know there are little grant scholarships worth anywhere from $500 to a few thousand dollars. However, I would like to know if colleges give out a full scholarship for academics as they would for athletics. If only some colleges do, could you please list these schools for me. Thanks.

How com all scholarships aren't based on academic talent or financial need? I have nothing against minorities, but why are so many of the best scholarships only available to non-whites? This upsets me and I find it hard to believe that it's legal to exclude whites from scholarships because of race, but apparently it is since so many schools do it. Wouldn't race relations in the US be better if we just tried to help people in need and those who have talent, regardless of race?
Nationwide, aren't there more academic "full-ride" scholarships than athletic? My husband disagrees. Any stats My husband and I have a debate. I said, nationwide there are more academic scholarships that give students a full ride. He says there are more athletic scholarships that give students a full ride. Statistically, I know that's impossible given that, in any give school, athletes are a minority in a student body. Any links or stats I can use? U.S. News World Report, etc.?

Question about academic scholarships? Why does it feel like, as a white person, coming from a suburban area, I cannot get a scholarship? I'm receiving a 1,000$ baseball scholarship, ontop of several thousand in academic scholarships..? Is this a good deal? I guess what I'm asking is, is the fact that they offered at least some baseball scholarship money a good thing, or is this usual? It's a small NAIA school.
Question about athletic/academic scholarships? Well I transferred into another school (Miami Beach Senior High) to have a chance at playing baseball again. This school has a specific program (IB) that is very intriguing to colleges and Im in it. I have a 3.63 weighted/4.6 unweighted GPA and it is likely I'll get a scholarship when I do all my requirements for high school (community services, clubs, etc.). Im gonna play baseball for this school. They were a really bad baseball team last year (4 wins/ 14 losses) due to the fact that they are really young and all the seniors are out so the juniors will have to be the leaders and Im an incoming junior. I'm a really good baseball player, wanted by 6 out of the 18 schools I had in mind to transfer to but I chose Miami Beach because I wanted a chance to start immediately (since the other school had banned me from the team due to an argument b/w my dad and the coach) and shine into the baseball player everyone wants to see in me. Its been said by many people that Im already a varsity type player on freshman/sophomore years. I was wondering, this is hypothetically speaking here...If I were to do good in my junior and senior years playing here, would I be able to get a athletic scholarship even if the team is bad these next two years (b/c who knows if they have a turn around season these two up coming years)? I know that if I get the academic scholarship, I'll obviously make the right decision in picking that one but if I get both then I will choose both but I was just wondering can I get an athletic scholarship even if the team is bad? (btw this school is a school that has a history of top athletes getting athletic scholarships to top universities)
What colleges offer best academic scholarships? Since I can hardly pay by myself for a college, I have to find one that offers best academic scholarships. I have just finished my first semester with a 4.00 GPA at one accredited 4-year public university. My desired and current major is marketing. I like it here, but I am not sure my current University will reward me with an improved scholarship. Therefore I have to start searching for a place to transfer, just in case. I want to go to best college possible, since I believe I can do this well anywhere. What are the best colleges that offer good academic scholarships? Thank you in advance, Peace

Do a student with a full academic scholarship live better economically in college than a student athlete? A student athlete has the potential to earn more. However, I feel that a student with a full academic scholarship does live a better life economically. The student with the full scholarship can work part-time and maybe earn $100 a week whereas the student athlete cannot. Also in some cases they can get more money in their pocket if they receive an extra scholarship or two.

Are scholarships from colleges only based on merit? I'm looking at a few schools, however, I am worried about the money issues. When colleges give out scholarships, do they give academic scholarships considering grades, SAT scores, GPA, etc or is only based on merit and PSAT Scores? I am not quite sure how it works! If anyone is willing to explain me some more detail it would be greatly appreciated! Scholarships from the school itself, not scholarships that you need to apply for from a program, etc. Thanks!

Thank you!
Question about academic scholarships? Can you get an academic scholarship if you are ranked in top 25% of your class with a 3.667 gpa?
How high should your GPA be to get an academic scholarship? I'm a freshman in highschool and my GPA is 4.2, is that high enough (if I maintain that grade for all my years of high school) to get me at least a partial academic scholarship to a college? Also I play volleyball and I'm on varsity as a freshman, and will most likely get a scholarship somewhere for that, but will my GPA still have to be at least what it is now to get both academic and athletic scholarships?
University Scholarships that are purely academic? I am currently a high school senior with a 4.2 weighted GPA and take many AP classes. Do academic scholarships from government count as part of GDP? The exact scenario is: A monthly check received by an economics student who has been granted a government scholarship. Are there college scholarships available based on SAT/ACT scores alone? My son's high school GPA is 3.1 but his SAT score was over 2000. Every academic scholarship we've looked at so far for students who score over 2000 on SAT also requires a minimum GPA of 3.5. Does anyone know of a college that awards academic scholarships for high SAT scores that doesn't require a high GPA? He is planning to major in secondary education/history.

What are the odds of getting an academic vs. athletic scholarship? Having a discussion with a neighbor. He thinks that athletic scholarships are easier than academic ones. I have done some searching on the web and found out, roughly, some odds of the sports but not the academic ones. I myself, believe that the academic are a little easier than the athletic ones. (this doesn't include the easier $500-1000 ones offered thru various workplaces). Does anyone know the odds of either? Or of a website that would give that information? All help and information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

ROTC scholarships and academic probation? I'm about to ask a lot of questions and they may seem jumbled - please forgive me, I'm a little bit anxious and flustered. I'm an Army ROTC cadet, soon to be a sophomore. In my freshman year I applied for and received a 4-year scholarship, which would pay my tuition/fees as well as a book stipend and monthly subsistence stipend. However, I had a tough time both semesters during freshman year - my GPA was a meager 2.3 first semester. My second semester GPA was even worse, at 1.8. This brought my cumulative GPA down to a 2.05 - just barely above the 2.0 required to maintain my scholarship. Already, I've changed my major to something different so I can do better. I even purchased my fall semester textbooks during the summer so I could get a head start. Classes start on August 25th, and as of yet, my tuition balance is not showing my scholarship money, and my regular checking account has not shown the standard ROTC book stipend. I also confirmed that other cadets in my battalion have already received their stipends. Does this mean that I am on academic probation, or, god forbid, that I have lost my scholarship? I am certain the requirements for my battalion are to maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0, but does that also extend to semester GPA? What exactly does ROTC scholarship academic probation mean? As far as I know it means that I don't receive any scholarship benefits (tuition, stipends, etc) for this semester, and I have until next semester to bring my GPA back up to an acceptable level. I know I can do this, and will accept nothing less than straight A's. I definitely have not received any phone calls from the cadre or emails or regular mail or anything to expressly indicate I'm on probation or have lost my scholarship. I know they would expect me to know these things on my own, but all the same, do ROTC cadre normally notify cadets on academic probation? Thanks in advance for any replies. I'm really afraid I may have screwed up my chances for a great education and career.
Know of any random, non-academic based Scholarships?!? I had As and Bs through high school till last year (my junior year) when I got a C and then a D as final grades for classes. =( And my family is not low-income at all so I couldn't get a need based scholarship either. If you know of ANY random scholarships that I (a female from NC looking to stay in-state who does comptitive horseback riding) could apply for, please let me know! Thank you!
What can I do to heighten my chances at getting an academic scholarship to college? Okay, so I'm only 12 (entering 7th grade this year) and I would do nearly anything to receive a scholarship to college so I can study web design and graphic design (basically visual arts). I'm trying to hold a very high GPA until I graduate from college. I've always had a 4.0 my whole short education, and I have been told that there is more to getting a scholarship than good grades. What can I do (starting now) to really boost my chances at a scholarship? I know how silly this question sounds, and I have been laughed at for planning ahead so far, but I'd still like to know. Not to brag, but with a 125 IQ... I don't know if that'll get me a scholarship. *shrug* I really want a scholarship, but I don't want to have to CONSTANTLY be studying. I want to be able to spend time with my friends, too! Thanks a bunch, everyone who answered or is answering this question!
How do you know if you got an academic scholarship to college? O.K so i am a freshman in high school and i am trying to figure this scholarship thing out for college. Thanks for any help! GPA 3.75 SAT 1060( reading and math)
