My daughter wants to go to grad school, are there any grants available for her in NC? What about FAFSA?
Can she apply for any federal monies? She will be graduating in 5/08 and would like to go to grad school BUT I am a single parent and do not have the funds to assist her beyond college. Where can she find info regarding grad school grants/scholarships in NC? PLEASE help. Thank you.

- Make sure your FASFA is in early before the deadline...this will automatically grant you State money..also have your daugther apply independent ...she is more likely to get money...and depending on er major...see if that itended major has scholarships for her...search the web...money is in different places....contact the finacial aid office at her local school of now...or whereever she applys and ask them what ideas are best for assisitance...she is most likely going to have to pull out a loan...but get the ones that you pay back when you graduate...and you have like 10 years or more too....hope this helped. God Bless.
- www.cfnc.org is the BEST website for colleges in NC. Helped me out a great deal!
- Your FAFSA must be done by the deadline, but the earlier you get it in, the better. Financial aide grants, state aide and school scholorships tend to go quickly, so to be sure she is considered, you have to have the FAFSA ready to go. It is harder to get grants and scholorships at the graduate level...far more competetive and with less opportunities available. Start doing reserach now. If your daughter knows what she plans to major in, start looking for scholorships based on that. Any community orginizations that offer scholorships, any professional groups you may belong to, any corporate scholorships...all good places to look. If your daughter is planning to go into teaching, there are many programs (both in the individual state and nationally) that will pay part or all of the cost for a Master's degree if she agrees to work for a district after graduation. Keep in mind many of these programs will place her in inner city or rural districts and that may not be for everyone. Some hospitals will do similar programs for nursing. Beyond that, just start digging. You are doing the right thing by starting to look now!
- http://scholarships.fatomei.com/graduate.html that webpage has SEVERAL scholarships for students who want to persue a graduate education, i believe it would be in your best interest to invest into it (along with the federal FAFSA aid of course.) this website also has links to other categories for scholarships that your daughter may be interested in.... very helpful website, i promise you.
