Grants and Scholarships

People who are in a university, how are you paying for school?

If you don't mind me asking, I would like to know how you are paying for school. Loans, grants, scholarships, rich parents. What were the steps you took to ensure you would have the money for school after high school. I graduate from high school in May and I really want to go to UCLA.

  1. Loans, Loans, a state, and then a federal grant.
  2. I take financial aid in the form of Stafford loans and Pell Grants. I also work 30 hours a week. If you can't get Pell Grants or your parents make too much money for Stafford Loans then you can get private loans with a modest interest rate from banks. Wells Fargo has a Be On Time Loan which is basically if free money if you graduate in 4 years. Check it out and good luck.
  3. I took out Stafford Loans to pay for tuition and books. My parents paid for my living expenses..and I graduated in 3.5 years. I graduated 6 years ago and I'm still paying student loans and owe $11K...
  4. I qualified for a few grants but wasn't enough so I ended up taking out Federal Perkins Loan and Federal Direct Subsidized Stafford Loans.
  5. I graduated in May of 2007, and I've hit a brick wall in terms of paying for school. The State flagship in my school is about 12k a year barebones, and my parents aren't paying, but I don't qualify for a Pell Grant and the school is very stingy with it's financial aid. I don't really qualify for private loans, and even with a worthy cosigner I only managed to qualify for a 9% interest rate, and after I really tacked on what I need beyond the basics, I'd be about 15k in the hole per year, and I'm instate. I want to go to college, but the price is high. How you are going to get the bill paid depends heavily on your situation and what kind of school you want to go to.
