Grants and Scholarships

How can I get money (not loans) for graduate school?

I'm looking for scholarships, grants, etc but not loans (I already have some from undergrad). Is there any money for graduate students at all and if so what are the websites in which I can find them?

  1. work work work thts the only way your going to get money
  2. Get a job.
  3. you can get a grant. a grant is free money that you dont have to pay back.
  4. u cannot get pells or anything.unless you can get a scholarship or private grant, loans are your only option.
  5. I have loans and more loans, but you can search for graduate scholarships the same way you search for scholarships for undegrad i.e. on fastweb.com, the famous blue book in the reference section of any library should help. Also see if any organization that you belong to (e.g. bank, credit union, fraternity/sorority) offers scholarships and apply. Don't forget to fill out the FAFSA!
  6. I would suggest the book "free money to change your life" by matthew lesko. It has done wonders for me. It has a list of scholarship programs and little known grants. A lot of these grants are very specific, like people that are studying native american history, women's studies, or environmental stuff. There are also a lot of reimbursement programs that states have for doctors, nurses, teachers, etc. so a lot of it depends on what program you are planning to go into. another option is finding some work with an employer that will help pay for your program, get into a fully funded PHD program, or join the military reserves. the military offers a lot of benefits and you can do stuff, like be a nurse, doctor, lawyer, etc while still serving so it can work out well. i suggest you go to the library and look through the lesko book or order a cheap used copy of it from amazon.com. good luck
  7. graduate schools have graduate assistance position and fellowships
  8. Yeah check out the graduate school's fellowships. That would be your best bet at a large amount that should sufficiently help you pay for your graduate degree without having to pay it back. I'll be applying next semester myself. Good luck!
