Grants and Scholarships

financing graduate school?

I have a friend from Japan who is in their 2nd year of graduate school here in the U.S. The problem is that they don't know if they can afford to complete their Masters. They only have a few more credits to complete but not enough to qualify as a full time student. My research shows that very few scholarships & grants exist in the U.S. for international students. As I've already looked for other scholarships and the like, is there any other way I can help my friend?

  1. You are right, funding for international students is few and far between. In America we take out loans to finance a large chunk of out education, and they expect international students to do the same thing. So that is realistically the only option this late in the game. Scholarships for the Fall close in February and March. They might also be able to try to work for a semester or year and then apply for scholarships when they open up in October.
