  1. Texas has a program (It used to be called Teach for Texas, I'm not sure if still has the same name-check with a college advisor). In the program, you got loans for school, but if you taught for a certain number of years in a high-need area or low-income district, you didn't have to pay it back. Do you have a college degree in anything? If so, you could try alternative certification where you start teaching and go to classes on Saturday at the nearest Education Service Center. You have an instructor who comes and observes you frequently, but you don't have to go back to school. If you are trying to get your degree while working full-time, some universities have agreements with local districts that instead of doing a student-teaching semester (where you basically teach and have to pay college tuition for the privilege) you can get hired and start teaching with a mentor teacher at the school. You don't get paid full salary, but it is better than nothing and you have a really good chance of getting to stay at the school the next year if they like you. Sit down with an advisor in financial aid and one in the education department and try to come up with a plan that fits your needs. They will have the most updated information on scholarships and financial aid. Keep asking "Is there anything else?" until they can't come up with another thing. Good luck!
