Grants and Scholarships

Pregnancy options?

My husband and I MAY be pregnant. We are both 22 and full-time college students in Texas. We currently do not have health insurance, and haven't since we got married 2 years ago. We will ofcourse finish school. We rent a nice house with a guest bedroom to spare for the baby. We receive scholarships, grants, and financial aid to pay for our tuition. We currently are both servers at restaurants, but I am thinking of getting a desk job at a political research company. Anyway, I'm guessing (can only find his check stub) that we make about $1000 a month (although servers aren't required to report ALL their tips, and we have no money problems at all so we must make more than this). We of course have bills to pay like $600 for rent, $100 for electricity, $40 for satellite, $50 for phone/DSL, $135 for car insurance, etc. We will be able to cover everything else, but medical expenses out of pocket are not an option. Are we eligible for Medicaid? I'm confused by the website. Other options? By the way, it's too soon to test yet to find out one way or another. I just want to be prepared. Yes, we did. I know it sounds bad, but I wouldn't change a thing about it. I'd dated him in high school and through our first year of college, and then we got married. It's not like we're from a small town or sheltered or anything like that either, we're both from Houston. But yeah, I know, it's different :D

  2. I am almost positive that you will qualify for medicaid. I too am a full time college student and my husband is a mechanic. Altogether we bring home about 2000 a week and we were elligble for it. Thank god for it too!! I NEVER complain about paying taxes and neither does my husband! You wont be working full time either once you get prego...i too was a server and worked up until the day i was due....my ankles were the size of softballs!
