Grants and Scholarships

Financial Aid and Grants for Graduate School?

I am a recent graduate. I received my BA in Political Science. I would like to apply to Graduate School. I am recently MARRIED and I ADOPTED my wife's 2 year old son as soon as we got married. I would like to know the possibility of getting my graduate study paid for through government grants and scholarships (ie: money that I don't have to pay back). My wife and I are both 22 years old. Between the two of us, we make around $45,000 a year. We don't have any assets and we live in an apartment. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all your help!

  1. Unfortunately, there are no government grants for graduate school. The good thing is you qualify for financial aid based on your income and not based on your parents' income and taxes. All you would need to do is complete the FAFSA form. There are student loans. There is a limited number of scholarships because most are for undergraduate students. You could apply to become a graduate assistant which would provide an income and help with your college tuition. I will include some free resources below.
