Hello, I am currently in my first year of college. After high-school I immediately went to the local college in my town. Well after a semester at this college and now halfway through my second semester I have decided the college is not right for me. My major is Mechanical Engineering. I am from Texas grew up in Texas and now go to college in this same town in Texas. The college has its pros and cons. It is very cheap yet it seems with this cheap price you are being cheated an education with a number of professors not really caring. I am being awarded financial aid through Federal ACG - 1st Year, Federal Pell Grant, TEXAS Grant Initial. If I was to attend a college out of state would I still be receiving these or something of equivalence? My school runs about $20,000 a year that is really its only positive thing I am lead to believe if I go to another college I will be awarded more to make up for the cost of an more expensive university because as of now I am debt free, thanks to these grants and a few scholarships. What would be some universities not just in Texas but also outside of Texas that offer high education levels(good teachers) and offer mech. engineering as a degree. (the only college I am really not considering is texas tech...) Other than this any college within the United States that maybe someone has had a knowledgeable, safe(I hope people understand what I mean by safe...some colleges are truly bad in those terms.), fun filled college experience at or heard about. Any INFO. is really appreciated especially with the financial aspects.
