Grants and Scholarships

Grants and scholarships for school?

Hi im 20 years old and I work at a plastic bottle company and i really can not see my self doing this for the next 20 years of my life. Basically I'm looking for a grant or scholarship that i can use to pay for school and my bills that have to be paid or at least help pay(rent, electric, car insurance things of this nature). Both of my parents can not help support me what so ever so I am basically on my own completely. Also I am wanting to go the paramedic/firefighter route and I live in North Texas. Please help me out if you can think of any links or just general information that would be great.

  1. There is a student guide available at http://www.how2winscholarships.com that should really help you out. My son and I learned so much from the information that we got when we got our own guide. Good luck!
  2. Of course, you have to fill out the FAFSA to be eligible for any grant money from the government, which is based on financial need. And since you are only 20 (assuming not married or have any kids) you will be considered dependent and your parents must fill out the tax info. You can also apply for scholarships. Of course, the scholarship contests are the easiest and like any other contest, it is a game of chance to win. But you can also find scholarships unique to the school you want to attend or area of study. Plus, you may want to ask some of the local firefighters/paramedics of they know of any scholarships out there. There are some vocational school scholarships and contests here.
  3. education.mypressonline.com - it provides some tips about applying to US federal and state grants for college students.
