Grants and Scholarships

Where can I look for small business grants including ones for women looking to start their first business?

In the past I remember hearing about government grants available to women starting their first business or something along that line. I know the economy has tanked, but can you give me an idea of where I can go looking for financial support in my new endeavor?

  1. all i will say is..... good luck......
  2. I don't believe that they exist or have ever existed for that matter. Grants for women (or anyone for that matter) to start a business are one of those things that everyone has heard of but no one has ever seen (like Big Foot, the Loch Ness Monster or an intelligent Green Bay Packer Fan). Grant money is generally given to non-profit organizations and local governments. The only grants that individuals can get are Pell Grants for college.
  3. Go to grants.gov/ and follow the instructions. You will find that unless you are a nonprofit, in basic research or daycare, there are no grants for a small business.
  4. Your tax's are not spent giving business owners money. Male, female, doesn't matter. If you need money you borrow it. The government does lend to small business, go to http://www.sba.gov for details on how to apply for a small business loan.
